MUSHI DISASTER

What: A sudden spike in the mushi population brings some trouble to the carnival.

[Following the recent disappearance of Ginko and Tanyuu’s mushi repellent, there will be a sudden increase in the number of mushi in the carnival this week.

[Why are you....Both??? Lurking at his trailer??? Um.

Gongenzaka opens his door to squint, to say the least, and his snubbull really isn't sure about this herself. It looks...like...

...Ok no it looks like a weird blob is what it looks like. He gives a reactionary sniff of annoyance, only to catch a familiar whiff and turn his head upward.] Hmm??

Yuuya? [Okay that's...one slightly good thing about this.] ...Is this some sort of faulty 'spell'..? [Look he heard 'mushi infestation' and expected people acting weird, not people stalked by mecury.]

[hippocarnival]

I wasn't doing any magic. [So if it is it isn't his fault.] It was in the lake and then it just started following me. Maybe it's one of those Mushi things?

[Said mercury blob slaps itself against the trailer, like it wants to get up. High ground is safe ground for now.]

[betheman]

Mushi? [Hmm. He has to frown for a moment, giving it thought. It...Might be, if he considers what he knows about them. He's used to these things creating some sort of infection, but in hindsight, he was told that they can do...far more varied things.

He is jolted from his thoughts by the motion of the mercury however, whic immediately elicits a very strong growl.

DON'T SHAKE HIS HOUSE YOU PIECE OF CRAP BLOB!!]

Yeah, you've seen then floating around haven't you?

[Luckily it's not too strong to cause any real trouble for the trailer... but it is making headway up, so Yuya sighs and jumps down from the roof.

He puts his hands on his hips and frowns at it.] It won't leave me alone! It hasn't done anything, but it's still creepy.

[otoko]

Mnnn...I, the man Gongenzaka, feel I may have seen a few, but it would seem I have managed to avoid most of the infestation...

[As it is. Gongenzaka looks from Yuuya, to the blob, frowning.] Exactly...where did it come from? It may be wise to ask Ginko about this, if we can locate him...

[hippocarnival]

I saw it in the lake, and then it jumped out and followed me back to the carnival.

[In fact, it's slinking closer to him right now. Yuya takes a step back.] I don't know what it wants! It doesn't seem to care about anything else.

[betheman]

[Does he need to get between you both, because he will if need be-] Hmmnn. So it is...mostly harmless then, perhaps...

Still, the fact that it is attempting to get so close is worrying-has it touched you at all?

[Yuya may in fact be subtly shuffling around Gon as it gets closer. He's right that it doesn't seem to care about anyone but Yuya, though, which is why he isn't worried about putting Gon in the way.]

I'm trying to avoid that. [Which has been making sleeping difficult.] Ginko said some Mushi could be dangerous, so it cant be good if it keeps getting close to me... right?

[betheman]

Aah, quite a number of them, in fact. A few of those that have been reported are capable of killing others, if left unchecked... [Fortunately however, they have Ginko, among everyone else. Still...Gongenzaka's fur raises, and his fists tighten while he faces the blob down.]

...If it is refusing to remain away, it most certainly cannot bode well!

[hippocarnival]

Killing?! [The Mushi, unperturbed by Gon's staredown, just blobs right under his legs to get around.

Yuya swats at it.] Which ones are those?

[betheman]

Hmmmm... ...Fortunately most here are notified of such things enough that no casualties have occurred...

...However, [he adds, before pausing to snarl at the blob and briefly attempt at trampling it- DON'T YOU DARE DO THAT, YOU HORRIBLE MECURY THING!!] ...However, [He continues,] the mushi in particular resembles a small flame.

If you attempt to warm yourself with this flame, it will begin to steal your body heat.

[Yuya jumps back as Gon tries to trample the Mushi. It's practically liquid however, and despite it's languid creeping around it can be fast--fast enough to dodge each blow before coming out from under Gon's feet. At least it's on the other side from Yuya.]

So how do we tell it apart from the just fire? We really need that Mushi repellent back...

Ah...the flames in particular are 'floating'; they're fairly unique, so they stand out on their own...

More importantly, as they subsist on heat itself, it should be relatively cold in their area.

[He grimaces however, and shakes a paw of the liquid a moment.] ...Indeed, we do need that repellent however...

So cold fire... at least they're more obvious than I thought. [He crosses his arms.] Why would someone even take it?

[otoko]

That... ...is something that I, the man Gongenzaka, feel many of us are wondering, at this point.

Considering its importance, as well as its uselessness for anything but repellent...

[Gongenzaka shakes his head, forced to sigh.]

I, the man Gongenzaka, cannot even guess.

[hippocarnival]

I hope it's not someone trying to hurt the carnival. Nobody's been hurt so far, have they?

Hmmm, if it were someone aiming to strike the Carnival, it would be far more serious-that much, I, the man Gongenzaka, can say.

More than likely... [Hmmm. He thinks back to the clues thus far.] ...More than likely, whoever did this was at least somewhat unaware of what they were truly doing...

[hippocarnival]

I hope you're right. [Not that it makes it less of a problem, but at least if they didn't mean to and were apologetic... well, there are probably consequences worse than just getting thrown out of the carnival like an unruly guest. But he won't think about that.]

Have any of them been bothering you?

As do I... [He's still barely keeping himself together after the LAST mess. They don't need another 'demon vampire attack'.

Gongenzaka looks to Yuuya almost in surprise for a moment, the question catching him off guard.] Mn...not thus far. Though perhaps, I, the man Gongenzaka, have simply been keeping too mobile...

[hippocarnival]

[Ah. Yuya looks at least relieved to hear that. He'd rather they weren't both dealing with this.] That's good. I guess you're really imposing now, so they know better than to mess with you!

[otoko]

AUH- I, imposing, 'now'? [On the one hand he was told he had that impression BEFORE....on the other, he doesn't want to be imposing at all!!

Ahhh...] ...Well... [He coughs.] With any luck, you will be correct...it will make tracking down the culprit far easier, at least....

[hippocarnival]

[Yuya laughs.] You always stood up for me even if someone was bigger or older, so I guess you had to be a little imposing for that to work.

It'd be really easy if they just came out and said sorry, wouldn't it? If it was just an accident I could forgive them.

[otoko]

I...

[Welp.] ...I, the man Gongenzaka, suppose there is...some truth to those words, [he mumbles sheepishly, shaking the thought off.]

But unfortunately, with how much of this herb was stolen, it is no accident, Yuuya. When this culprit is apprehended...the time they have spent avoiding capture will only make their punishment more severe.
