It's amazing how fast Strange goes from smugness at the fact that he did something impressive to confusion at why the flames are going further than expected to sheer panic because oh damn, he almost set Childermass on fire. Almost instantly he retreats the flames back to the candle, which is still flickering in the middle of the room like nothing happened and just rushes over to Childermass.
A little part of his brain points out that the carnival does have a doctor, they'd be able to fix things if Childermass was severely burned (hopefully, maybe). But that one little sensible part is currently being smothered by the rest of his brain loudly pointing out that again, he set Childermass on fire, what sort of rubbish magician was he?! That was a novice mistake, something that shouldn't have happened and really, he'll just have to do better next time.
"Are you hurt?" Strange calls out, as he approaches Childermass, quickly scanning the man for any sort of obvious wound and cursing himself that he doesn't know any healing magic. That might actually be useful! "Here, let me see your shoulder."
