It's funny how Lapis is mad at Sora, but Peridot was placing the blame solely on Pumpkin for being a gosh darned traitor.

"I guess that's possible," Peridot concedes reluctantly, watching as Pumpkin rolls over to expose her weird orange belly for petting. "I guess Pumpkin just loves everybody. Which is a shame, because I thought we taught her better than that."

The engineer cocks her head, appraising Sora. "I don't think I've seen you around the carnival before. Are you a new recruit?"

It is actually very much more than likely that she has actually crossed paths with Sora before now? Peridot is just not always the most perceptive person.
