This entire situation is odd and Strange really has no idea how to navigate this. Well, carefully. That's the obvious, navigate it carefully, but aside from that? No clue.

And really, the more he gets Childermass talking, the more likely it is he could see what was wrong with the man. Obviously he enjoys it here. This place is designed to be enjoyed, it practically begs you to enjoy it. But there's a difference between enjoying and whatever this is. Childermass seems to have thrown himself into this place without any regrets.
