⇨ THE CELEBRATION
Who: Everyone, especially YOU.
When: Day 60 - Day 65
Where: The Celebration
What: The carnival workers are invited to spend the week within the realm of the Celebration, the grounds of a party that has been going on for centuries. Accommodations are luxurious, but those with keen instincts might notice something off about this whole arrangement... (Questions can go to the original setting post!)
Warnings: Booze, drugs, sex, and everything in between.

THE CELEBRATION↴![]() If you observe that the layout of the Celebration grounds seem inconsistent, then you would be correct. In reality, what lies at the end of each corridor depends largely on what the guests of the Celebration want at the time - if a few people find themselves craving a drink, a bar may appear. If a group finds themselves wanting to dance, a club will open up. This goes on at all hours of the night, and given how many dedicated partiers fill the building, the services are well used. It isn't instantaneous, and the Host has to consciously decide to provide that service, but the changes are fast none-the-less. ► ROOMS: Each trailer pair will be assigned a room to themselves - whether or not it has two double beds or a single king sized bed seems essentially random. Hopefully you aren't too sensitive about keeping that space to yourself. The curtains at the far side of the room don't actually lead outside, but instead to a walk-in closet filled with the Host's best guesses at the type of clothing you might like. They may not hit the nail on the head, but at the very least all the clothing will be in your size. The styles could be just about anything, from any universe, but they do tend to average out to clothing that is Earth-ish. Either that, or clothing that looks like they are meant for elves from a high fantasy novel to wear. ► SHOPPING: If none of your pre-picked outfits tickle your fancy, plenty of boutiques and clothing shops can also be found around the grounds - whatever you're thinking of, you'll probably be able to find a shop appropriate for it eventually. Though, maybe it doesn't really count as shopping if you don't have to pay for any of the things you take back to your room with you? Unfortunately, from the sounds of it, you won't be allowed to drag all of your haul back to the carnival with you, so you better enjoy it while you can. ![]() ![]() ► DINING: There is no daily schedule to follow, after you arrive. You are free to attend the dining room whenever you wish, and will be seated at large round tables with whoever else may be around at the time, and can either order from the menu or most dishes you may think of off the top of your head. If you don't like the fine dining experience, there are also a selection of smaller cafes and eateries that open and close at varying times of day - and, of course, you can always call for room service. ► ENTERTAINMENT: There is plenty of live music around the grounds (not that you can ever seem to remember who the performers were afterwards) whether it comes to harp music while you eat or a full set of DJs in the club you found. If you are inclined to look for them, you may also find some cozy lounges with big screen TVs, and access to a multi-universal quantity of films. What's there or isn't there is unpredictable, but if you come from a standard variety of Earth you probably recognize some of them. ![]() ![]() ► SUBSTANCES: You don't have to be coy about it - just ask one of your servers, and you'll be able to get whatever kind of vices you might be craving. Drugs, alcohol, ice cream... it's all good. If this sounds like a nightmare for potential addicts, you would be correct. It's not uncommon to see people clearly over-indulging in certain locations, though guests are usually escorted back to their rooms if they take ill - only to see them back at it again the next day. ► SPA DAY: If you'd like to take a swim, pools of various aesthetics are easy to find. So are hot tubs, and saunas, and Host servants who are willing to give you a massage or manicure. If the party crowd isn't your scene, there are plenty of more low-key opportunities to indulge. ![]() ![]() ► GREENSPACE: There is one park area on the grounds, which appears to be constructed on the rooftops of other parts of the complex. While there are trees and greenery, there is no real sky that you can see - only the illusion of one. It may start to occur to you over time that no window or rooftop actually leads to any kind of outdoors. The Celebration really is there only thing here. These are really just examples, and you can get creative with what kind of services you find offered while here, when it comes to generally mundane comforts. It really feels like the Host wants to win you over, as if you staying just a little longer has some sort of intrinsic appeal. |

"But to have all this energy and just do nothing with it? I don't understand that either."
Surely they'd get tired of partying after a while, right?
no subject
Frankly, it's kind of comforting to know that he's not the only person here who's not comfortable with this, and therefore being a complete killjoy for no reason at all.
"I guess what really gets me is that, among the carnival workers... I know some of these people. They're not usually like this, or at least I doubt they would keep it up for this long."
no subject
He pauses for a moment, as if expecting someone to show up right then and there to force a drink on him. When it doesn't happen, Strange continues talking, a bit relieved.
"And there's no time for quiet either. I've ran into countless bars but I can't find a single library." Which is a bit of a shame because crazy party dimension bringing in people from different worlds? Hell yeah he'd spend some time reading those books to try and see what other people's magic is like.
no subject
"Right. Bars, restaurants, those, uh... movie theaters." He waves a hand slightly. You know. Those things. "Some of 'em can be pretty quiet if you find the right one, but even then..."
He sighs, blowing a stream of smoke from his mouth and nose. "Guess when it comes down to it, this place is just made more for socializing than anything else."
He supposes that on its own is all fine and well, even if it's not what he would prefer. But even then... "I dunno. I'd just rather not stay here longer than we have to, y'know?"
no subject
"They're not letting us go back. I've tried to ask the hosts to let me return to the Carnival for a moment and tried to sneak out of this place myself, but nothing worked. We're stuck here, probably until the Ringmaster decides otherwise."
A little scowl settles on Strange's face as he slumps forward slightly, still leaning against the tree but more focused on Ginko. All he wants to do is return back for a few minutes to pick up something he left. Is it really that hard a request to grant?
sorry for the wait, feel free to ignore this if you'd rather!
"I'd say that if we're lucky she might decide to leave before too long, but... this place seems exactly her speed. Can't be sure how long we'll be stuck here, if we can't go back on our own." He flops back into the grass, scowling. "...I really hope she's taken the animals into account somehow, if we can't even check on them."
no subject
"Surely she's taken them into account somehow. I mean, it is a rather large amount of animals." If it was one or two then it would make sense if the Ringmaster forgot about them, but there were a lot of animals at the Carnival. She can't be that scatterbrained?
no subject
He sure as hell hopes not, anyway. His tail twitches back and forth irritably. "Guess we'll find out for sure when we get back. Whenever that is, anyway."
no subject
It's obvious that, like Ginko, Strange really has no idea when they'll get back in the first place. Which is really becoming more and more annoying the longer they're here.
no subject
He grumbles and lifts his hands, pressing his palms over his eyes. He's tired just thinking about going back into the building. Now, though, even lying up here doesn't feel like much of a help.
no subject
It's a simple question but also one that Strange honestly has no idea how to answer. So much about the Celebration still confuses him (though he's gotten the hang of the entire concept of 'spa days'), it's entirely possible that the Ringmaster is off doing something that he'd have no idea what it is in the first place.
no subject
Which, well. He can't blame her for that too much, let alone be surprised, given that the entire point of being here is to 'take a break'.
"Honestly, chances are we won't see her at all until it's time to go. That seems to be what happens when she takes us somewhere to relax."
no subject
Strange's tone of voice implies that the 'this sort of thing' is more along the lines of 'the Ringmaster fucking off to do her own thing' and less 'being taken somewhere to relax.' He'd arrived near the tail end of the Matrix and he bothered the woman in Atlantis, Strange really has no point of comparison here.
no subject
"Not particularly. When we're working, she'll usually be in the thick of everything... there was just one other place that she took us for a 'break' where she disappeared like this."
He snorts, briefly getting the closest he's been to smiling in this whole conversation. "Guess I can't blame her too much if her idea of a break means getting away from all of us, huh."
no subject
"Considering that we're also trying to get away from all the others, I don't think we can talk either."
After all, there's not that many people here in the greenspace.
no subject
Don't get him wrong - he enjoys interacting with his coworkers, for the most part. He's got some good friends here.
But a man who's used to living in the woods and not seeing anyone for days at a time can only take so much human (or other) interaction, especially when there are rowdy, party-hyped strangers mixed in with the people he knows.
no subject
"I enjoyed parties back home." Before his life turned upside down, before Arabella died, before he had to flee to Italy. "But this...I'm afraid it's just a little too much party for me." And even then, the parties he was used to were very different from these alcohol and drug fueled bacchanalians. What happened to talking, let's just go back to talking at parties.
no subject
Even at the quieter gatherings he's been to, he usually seemed to find himself sticking to the outskirts. Which only made sense, he guesses. Parties are probably more fun for people who actually belong there.
...Then again, he's stuck to the same behavior at parties held in the carnival, too. So maybe it's less a matter of where he does or doesn't belong than just... how he is.
no subject
He's teasing: Strange gives Ginko a wry smile to show Ginko that he's not entirely serious, that he's being a bit of a jerk for the sake of being a jerk. Besides, with the way the Carnival worked, who knows when the next time they'd have a party would be.
no subject
He'll stick to hanging out in fields, thanks.
