Yeah, Lambert can tell a lot's been left out of that story, but he supposes Sora kept the details that matter. He might not be able to fully empathize with that kind of loss, but he's seen enough of what that kind of devastation leaves in its wake to get the picture.

"Sounds like good old-fashioned destiny," Lambert drawls, the last word spoken like it leaves a bad taste in his mouth. "You ever try to give it up?"

There's a certain allure in being the chosen one, he knows, accident or not. Of course, that usually lasts only until one figures out the various ways being chosen that way can suck.
