Jonathan Strange is lying through his fucking teeth. Some of the questions he can answer but others are straight up bullshit, details he can't remember mixed with details of how he thought it was mixed with details of how he wished it was. He's trying his hardest to sell it though, answering every question with utmost certainty and a hint of smugness in his tone.
