It's clear from that answer that angels and demons are about to be fighting nearby, and that Papyrus is awkwardly straddling the line in allegiance. Having the Circle as a possible danger was bad enough for getting out, now there's at least three different groups.

"I don't see how! I didn't have a chance to get off a message before coming here. And, uh... I don't think my boss gets along with Anath. I was supposed to spy on other demons, if I got a chance."
