Steven is super confused, too, but it sounds like everyone else is understanding something they aren't. Is the ritual able to happen now? Steven barely knows what the ritual is about let alone the fact that Peridot could fill the requirements.

Yet, there is at least one thing he has a strong opinion on. He glares at the arguing fae, and takes Peridot by the hand - racing back into the circle with the rest, he puts himself between Childermass and the two of them.

"LEAVE HIM ALONE!" he yells at them, and summons his shield with his spare arm.
