What Peridot means when she says 'clods' and what Lambert pictures in his head may not be the same thing, but based on the tone of voice she says it in, he's more or less inclined to agree with that part. He's not exactly in a position to flop into the dirt himself, but she seems to be on to something with that, so he shrugs and gets down there to join her, though he remains sitting instead of lying down.

The rest of it, he's less sure about. Feelings sound fake, Peridot.
