He'll have to teleport into the thorns, more or less, because with the thorns coming from the rose there's nowhere that isn't thorns in there, but he can do it in a manner where he doesn't scratch himself up too badly. Though, the few scratches he does manage to gain flash hot and cold in an alarming manner.
