"Wh-- Where were you during the ball, in a hole or something?" Peridot snaps automatically, turning on him. It's all too easy for her to let her anxiety and grief become anger; that's how she coped with basically every emotion, for thousands of years. At least now, she knows to check herself, and she looks immediately remorseful.
"...Sorry," she grumbles more quietly, turning back away, pushing clawed fingers through her hair. "It's just... if I knew exactly where he was, I wouldn't be sitting here like a lumpy, useless clod." She sighs, and casts a venomous glare towards the newly formed fortress. "I can only assume he's somewhere in there, wherever it is that stupid jerk PRINCE keeps all of his prisoners..."
