She actually probably would have accepted that answer, if it weren't for Childermass's troubling follow up, which is to... do and say absolutely nothing.

Peridot watches him for a few long moments, anger steadily building with each passing second of silence. She's not really sure what she's expecting to hear from him, what she wants to hear from him. She just knows that silence isn't it. Childermass and Lambert are friends, aren't they? Shouldn't he want more information, shouldn't he be more upset? Is she being irrational for being upset about this...?
