Susan says it like it's the most obvious thing in the world, when Lauren knows for a fact that they've never once gotten each other anything close to a gift before. Gifts were things you gave to girls to get them to like you, or things you got from your parents. Although, admittedly, he would have gotten a gift for Susan if he'd been out with a gift giving decree in place, it still feels weird to have his little brother giving him something for a change. Of course, than the gift is making a sound, and Lauren looks disturbed as he stares at the source of the sound.

Hurriedly he reaches down to take the lid from the box, revealing the mossy green fox kit inside. It blinks up at him, before mewling loudly to assert his dominance over his new owner. Lauren just blinks down at it in surprise.
