He reaches up to poke Herbert's nose at him being so snooty and rude, "Well, if I'm going to die and I can't get someone at least decent looking then maybe I shouldn't live at all." Yet he snorts again at such an offhanded comment, "It would take a lot to stop my heart."

At his more serious question he plants a hand on the edge of the tub and when it goes right through it Herbert will find him grasping for the edge with some failed attempts here and there. It's only when he does grab it that he'll push himself up and out so he can sit on the edge.
