Julien half smiles up at him, lips tugging over lopsidedly. He speaks more slowly than is usual for him, as if he has to haul each word out from somewhere before saying it. "The whole situation was awful. I'm glad no one else who was in those catacombs also ended up in the hunt. ...It was just a bad scene all around. Maybe I deserved some comeuppance for making a stupid assumption but I really didn't deserve all that. None of us did."

He scuffs a boot in the snow and curls his fingers in his pockets.

"I don't want you to feel bad about it." Julien pauses. Might as well be honest. "Maybe a little bad, but like, I know you're not to blame and I don't want you to have to dwell on this too long either? It was just really fucked up, the whole situation."
