He knows Strange understands Tyki's words for what they were and he won't allow it to get out of hand with over the top flattery. He didn't exactly want to see just how rough Strange can get. He enjoyed the arrogance and the way Strange was for who he was and not some thrall out to destroy everything. "Neither do I ever want to be under someone else's influence but my own nor to see you that way." Nightshade wasn't allowed to have him.

He's reminded then of Childermass' words about things being 'allowed'. He had no choice in the carnival and it infuriated him.
