Obviously, Strange doesn't know the full story. But he's getting little hints of it here and there. The way Lavellan stresses the realness of her god, the way this conversation's hanging around this one point, it's becoming more and more apparent that she's got some hang-ups with regards to religion. And Jonathan 'knows the basics but isn't really religious' Strange has absolutely no idea how to help Lavellan through a crisis of faith.
