In contrast to the Scribe's cheerful, distressingly boyish smiling, Lambert's expression is just perpetually shifting between various levels of 'kill me now' and 'I'm going to kill you.' It doesn't help that Portland's Lambert looks ten years younger and like an overworked graduate student (which he was) and overall looks like someone who's led a much easier life.
