He keeps learning more as time goes on and there is a large part of him that wants to question her entire family on if they understand that children need love and attention. No parent is perfect, even the Earl had significant flaws, but love and understanding were one of the large factors. He's going to start thinking ill things of her entire family soon enough. He just liked to form his own opinions on people, not just word of mouth.
