The Ringmaster looks at Peridot and then the egg. After a beat, she takes the egg between two of her claws and then hurls it at the ground. It bounces and then settles, completely unbroken.

"It won't break," she says. "It should be impossible to break, unless the enchantment has been offered the approval of at least three of you. Only then will it be allowed to shatter, releasing the Conflagration back to Ignatius."
