Rin is shaken from the hold of Samyaza's song when the shadows and the big goddamn bear show up. Shit. They really were in trouble...! But Samyaza was on their side, so that was good!

In a scramble of feathers and blue flame, Rin finds someone he recognizes -- in this case, Tanyuu -- and lands on her back, illuminating as much of the darkness as he can with what blue flame he can muster without his sword.
