With efforts to break the iron chains proving less effective than they hoped, Shima directs Yamantaka to redouble his efforts on the pillars themselves, where the chains are anchored. It won't be as fast for saving multiple targets quickly but Yamantaka focuses his considerable strength on crushing the shadowy substance with his many fists.
