Steven had been watching the entire Ignatius scenario from a polite distance, still recovering from the paralysis caused by his encounter with the staff members that caught him on his way to find his gem. He has his gem now, but it's still separate from his body, which is more than a little weird - he's used his plant magic to grow himself some clothing, and also to rope it into place with vines.

He's been feeling a bit foggy mentally as a result of everything, but when the Mother emerges, the chance to rest is over. He yelps as she begins to fire, leaping into the fray and summoning up as big of a shield as he can manage to shelter others behind. If you wanna duck behind him for safety, now's the time to do it!
