At first, the Ringmaster seems a bit flighty. Like, so is so happy to see everyone, but talking to them is difficult. She's been mostly keeping to herself once they are back in the realm, and it seems likely it's because she's got a lot going through her mind.
When Lambert first shows up, her reaction seems confused. There's a lot of conflicting emotions, especially with how they never quite sorted things out after the Athenaeum. And then... he apologizes. She didn't really seem to expect that.
"Maybe it was foolish of me to be so upset about it in the first place," she muses, still seeming a bit distant. As for his question: "Maybe they did. I don't know. Nobody ever mentioned it to me. Maybe it's an open secret that the Queens have been laughing about for a while now."
