RAT PARTY LOG: Day 105

Who: Everyone and anyone.
What: A party.
Where The menagerie.
When: Day 105

It’s a rat’s birthday party, and if you’re in the labor crew attendance is mandatory. After watching his department's sense of team spirit drop to dangerous levels Psi has decided to try and force people to have a little fun. Of course, the recent lack of camaraderie among the Labor Department isn’t the sole reason for the party; as Ginko had mentioned, anyone who decides to take a look at Rex the rat king will find a seventh head apparently in the process of emerging from around his shoulder. It’s not quite fully formed yet, essentially just a nose and mouth poking through the fur, but it’s very definitely there.

I. GINKO AND REX
A table has been set up near Rex’s enclosure with a number of rat king-safe treats laid out on it, so as to reduce the risk of visitors giving him something he shouldn’t eat. All the same, Ginko will be spending most of his time near Rex, and keeping an eye on things - just in case he has to, you know, discourage people from putting their fingers too close to the new mouth, or something like that. Fingers are not considered rat king-safe treats.

II. TWISTER AND OTHER FUN GAMES
Psi is here as well obviously, and he does have twister. He won’t actually make you play, but he will call you a wuss if you refuse to join in. Twister isn’t the only game they have available though, as later on Psi will also be forcing allowing people to play “Who Am I?” In this game the name of another person at the carnival is placed on a player’s back. Players then have to guess whose name is on their back by asking questions yes or no questions about that person to other people at the party. (Feel free to pick whatever name you want for your character.) Although Labor Department members have to play, others are welcome to join too.

III. FOOD
But what would a party be without the free food? There’s lots of good stuff. BBQ Ribs, Chicken Adobo, Pork Mango Habanero and for dessert there’s cupcakes in the chocolate and lemon flavored variety. Lar’s made it all so feel free to be shocked about that.

((OOC: As this is a party log feel free to make your own top-levels))

Julien nods, a motion that's been carefully practiced in an attempt to make it look less silly.

"It's things we needed to resist some invaders. Most of the time this was stuff you'd have to get up close to notice. Lots of people with bird hearts and lungs, or eyes, see. Feet and things didn't start until things got kind of really crazy."

He shifts a wing, unfolding it slightly so he can rearrange it. "...I really needed to be able to fly."
dontpokethat: is to create more problems until you are dead (the best way to solve problems)

"...Right. And I take it just putting wings on a human wouldn't have done the job?"

He guesses that does make sense, honestly.

"No. I don't know how it is here, but I needed the whole package. Apparently. Couple less birdy people can just about glide. I can carry people if it comes to that." In his back, or in his inventory, but Julien can just imagine how many people with strange powers have come through, and how many times the 'look what I can do' conversation's come up.

"I've made my peace with it, though." More or less. "Just don't treat me like one of your charges, and I'm good!"
dontpokethat: talking with sass and causing a frackus (i love cracking wise)

Ginko gives a soft hum of amusement and reaches through the cage bars to let the rat king push one of its faces into his palm.

"Sounds useful, anyway... and you don't have to worry about that. I'm not inclined toward treating other workers like animals, whatever they look like. That'd get especially awkward given that our doctor is a zebra."

And goodness knows Ginko depends on Zecora a lot.

"Good to know! I'll have to meet him, even if I really hope I won't need medical services. Blood is so hard to get out of white feathers!" If there's a list of who's working what job, he hasn't seen it yet.

"Speaking of feathers, can you tell me anything about your sparrow dinosaur?
Should I be put out that I showed up thinking I'd be the biggest puffball around, only to be upstaged?" He can't express anything with this face, but his tone is playful, and Julien is very good at using expressive tones of voice.
dontpokethat: now that ive changed the meaning of really well to the opposite of what it means in my head (things are going really well for me)

"I'm sure she hopes you don't, too. Zecora's had her hooves full enough lately." As he says that, he glances away as what might be a flash of guilt crosses his face. But it's barely noticeable if one isn't looking for it, and it's gone an instant later.

He laughs quietly, glad to have an opportunity to pull his thoughts away from recent crises. "What, the Tyrannosaur? I don't think you have anything to worry about - unless you feel like your reputation hinges on drooling during feeding times, and roaring in the middle of the night. In which case I think it might have you beat."

There might be something. Julien has sharp eyes. But some things are private, especially when it comes to people he's only just met. If it's something he has to know he'll wind up knowing it, he expects. He is curious about hooves.

"Hmm. Hmm. Yeah, I might have to yield there!" He puffs out the feathers on his head, looking extra friendly and happy. The shape of his head and beak are good for that already. "Male, female, unknown? Male house sparrows are patterned like that. I think the ones with bigger black bibs are supposed to be sexier? But it might not work like that here."
