MUSHI DISASTER
Who: Anyone and everyone; it’s a mingle-style log!
What: A sudden spike in the mushi population brings some trouble to the carnival.
When: Around day 87-90
Where: All around the carnival
Warnings: Illness, potentially some minor body horror, and so on

[Following the recent disappearance of Ginko and Tanyuu’s mushi repellent, there will be a sudden increase in the number of mushi in the carnival this week.
This is a mingle-style log, so just post a toplevel, tag out, and have fun with mushi disasters! Event information and questions are here.]

If he realized she was some kind of mage herself however, that would explain everything. In any case, when she offers the notepad and pen to him, he nods quickly, looking a touch surprised at first, and then grimly determined. Whatever fae magic allows them to understand each other's words here lets him read other's writing as well, thankfully, and he takes the pen and notepad. Handling it a little clumsily (it's not the sort of tool he's used to writing with) he quickly jots a few quick, neat lines of text on the paper, then passes it back. ]
They're called mooshee. [ Sadly, since he's only ever heard the word, he only has the phonetic spelling to go off of. ] Carnival's been infested. Someone took all the stuff that keeps them away.

Then there was supposed to be something here to keep those creepy things away...
So what do we do about it? [Finding the "stuff" that was stolen ought to do the trick, but locating it could be a pain in the ass. Besides, it seems like there should be a simpler solution.] Destroy them? [She suggests it casually as she passes the notepad back.]

That might not be physically possible. From what he told me before, they're made completely out of the essence of life. Don't know what that means, really, but setting them on fire doesn't seem to work.
For now, I scatter them away from the more populated areas of the Carnival when I see them. But that's just a temporary solution. What we really need is to find that damn tobacco. I found a trail, but it ended at the lakeshore.

Anything else you can tell me about the thief, or what they stole? I'll keep an eye out. If it means getting rid of those disgusting things, I don't mind lending a hand.

You're a sorceress? [ He wouldn't have pegged her as one, but he's already come to understand that magic users here tend to look much different from his world. ]
Not much on the thief. If you know any magic that can locate objects, that would be useful. It's a mix of herbs, tobacco, things in vials. A lot to hide, which is why I was thinking magic could have been used. Could use the radio to see if anyone else has found something. Apparently, we've got someone who's a master at dealing with these.

What do you mean by a 'master'?

At the question, though, he shrugs, flipping to a clean page and writing back: ]
That's what he called himself. His whole job is getting rid of these things when they start bothering people, and the repellent is something that lets him do that. If you run anything you can't deal with, he'll be able to tell you what you need to do.

White hair, deer feet, scaly tail. [ In other words, hard to miss. ]

You can hang on to those in the meantime. [Rita nods at the pen and notepad.] Just get them back to me when this crap's over and done with. [She should be easy enough to find. If Lambert happens to take a good look at either item, he can find her name there. She's written her full name on both the side of the pen and on a corner of the notepad's cover.]
no subject
I'm Lambert. [ He turns the pen in his hand, tapping the name on the barrel, and points at her with a raised brow before writing again. ] If you get infected with one of these things, ask him how to get rid of it.
no subject
I'll be on my way, then. [She turns to leave, then glances back at him.] Next time we meet, I'd like to ask you about that technique you used to blast those creatures. [It certainly looked like magic... and he's familiar with 'sorceresses' of some kind. Seems like he might know a few things of interest to her.]

Catch you on the other side, Rita! ]
