"Burns heal, and obviously I wouldn't let it get that bad," he sounded slightly irritated. "What do you care anyhow? I'm not in any pain, and the effects won't be lasting."

Come on now, this was for science!

...though to be fair, John Watson would probably punch him out for even thinking about doing this. Good thing he wasn't here right now!

Sherlock was going to be met with a rather astounded look, because that was the most absurd reasoning that he'd heard in a while. Also, why would he not care if someone was going to recklessly hurt themselves in the name of science? Or whatever reasoning that Sherlock was opting to use - there had to be a line drawn at common sense of some sort.

Although, common sense probably wasn't all that common when it came to experimentation, clearly.

"Just because you don't feel pain doesn't mean that it's not going to fuck up the nerves in your hand?"

Well, that was a good point.

And yes, he was extremely lacking in common sense.

"It wasn't going to be for very long," he said a bit lamely. "I was going to monitor it carefully. I'm not an idiot."

For a genius, he was totally an idiot.

"Besides, what if this lasts for a long time? What if it never goes away? I need to rest the extent of these effects." Not feeling anything, while amusing at first, was worrisome. And dangerous. Especially for someone as reckless as he.

He folded his arms over his chest, but loosely enough so that he could reach out and grab Sherlock's hand just in case. Yeah, Sherlock wasn't doing a very good job of convincing Yamato that he was going to be careful about this experimentation thing.

"Can't you just assume that nothing's changed? I mean, it's not like your tolerance has suddenly gone up, right? You just can't feel it." Logic, Sherlock. He may not be as good as you, but hey, the Japanese school system has drilled enough of it into him. Having to make sure Taichi didn't do Stupid Things also probably helped.

"I can't just assume," he said disdainfully. "The only way to know for sure is by testing. Otherwise it's just a theory."

Obviously, come on now. Anyone could see that!

Right?

Sherlock eyes the hot water again, but he doesn't make a move for it. He'd probably accidentally knock things over since he really couldn't tell where his limbs were at any given moment since he couldn't even feel pressure, and he didn't want to be responsible for pouring boiling water on anyone.]

[OOC: Embarassingly enough I missed that last typo, I meant 'test' not rest.]

"Theories are always extrapolated from fact, right?" Yamato wasn't entirely sure if he could actually out-logic Sherlock, and it was looking more and more unlikely by the moment, but, well. With the way Sherlock was eyeing the hot water, he had more than justifiable cause to feel more than a little bit alarmed at what Sherlock was going to do with the hot water.

The sigh of relief that Yamato let out when he realised that Sherlock wasn't going to do anything with the hot water probably did give that away rather obviously, after all.

"And I mean, it would kind of suck if you hurt yourself and then couldn't resume whatever experimentation you were doing previously because you can't feel your hands anymore."

Come on, Sherlock. Don't do the thing.
