What: A sudden spike in the mushi population brings some trouble to the carnival.

[Following the recent disappearance of Ginko and Tanyuu’s mushi repellent, there will be a sudden increase in the number of mushi in the carnival this week.

[Rita puts up her arms as if preparing to defend against an attack, but all the while, she glances back to the boy and the bird, studying their reactions.]

So it's not normal. [...is what she gathers.] They look like they could be spirits, but... I don't think they're elementals of any kind. So... what? [Another floating one bobs up close to them, causing her to bristle and grit her teeth. It floats around, passing right in front of the others' faces. But oddly... their eyes don't follow it.]

Wait... are you... [This doesn't make sense, but...] You can't see them?

[A spirit certainly sounds plausible, given that Tamaki still doesn't know what's going on. As she bristles, he squints even harder to try and see what she's looking at, but still can't see anything. Maybe a fae change let her see whatever they are? He hasn't heard of a fae change like that, but anything is possible.

At her question, he looks back at her and shakes his head. Then he shrugs as though apologetic.]

That's... weird. It doesn't seem like that... chicken [What else is she supposed to call it?] can see them, either.

[She looks back and forth between them with a thoroughly perplexed look. Suddenly, her eyes widen.] H-hold on. I'm not the weird one here, right!?

[puddingemote]

[He bristles at little at Riori being called a "chicken." Riori herself gives an irritated trill at the word.

As for whether she's the weird one... he shrugs. She does seem to be acting pretty weird. Maybe the "ghosts" were never there at all and she's just seeing things?]

[She narrows her eyes in response to his shrug.] What's that supposed to mean!? [Giving her nothing but vague responses all this time... what a jerk.] Why don't you say something already?

[He puts a hand over his mouth and shakes his head. He's not totally sure how to convey that he can't speak other than this, but so far everyone has gotten the point.]

... You can't. [But she's still annoyed.] Great.

Well... mute or not, you've been here longer than me, right? Is there someone around here who'd know about weird stuff like this?

[He's equally annoyed at her annoyance. It's not like he can do anything about this.

But someone who would know about weird stuff... He thinks about it, then remembers what Ginko said on the radio. If he saw anything weird, Tamaki was supposed to tell him...

He hits his fist in his palm, before crouching down and scrawling in the dirt:

Gin... san? [She squints at it, uncertain. She's also not recognizing the honorific he used there.] That's someone's name?

[Unfortunately, he'll keep using nicknames even if no one understands.

But he nods in confirmation at her question. Then he points off toward the menagerie, as though that might help her understand. Though, he has no idea if Ginko is actually in the menagerie at the moment.]

[She turns and follows his gesture with her eyes.] There...?

Hmph... Guess I'd better go, then. [She takes off running in that direction, throwing a wave back at Tamaki in some half-assed gesture of gratitude, or something. Maybe.]

[What an annoying person. Tamaki watches her go for a second, then shrugs to himself and walks on.]
