MUSHI DISASTER

What: A sudden spike in the mushi population brings some trouble to the carnival.

[Following the recent disappearance of Ginko and Tanyuu’s mushi repellent, there will be a sudden increase in the number of mushi in the carnival this week.

[Doll looks up from her joyous flipping and laughs, thanking Tamaki with a very sweeping and low bow.]

Thank you, thank you, you're too kind. [She runs up to him.] I haven' seen anybody with somethin' like this b'fore! Have you?

[He shakes his head. He's seen flowers and wings and horns and extra limbs but no snowflakes. It's pretty cool, he has to admit.

He reaches out to try and catch one of the snowflakes falling off her, looking pretty amazed when one lands on his finger. They're real and everything!]

[Doll looks just as amazed when he catches one of her flakes, bouncing on her toes excitedly. Maybe she'll make some serious flurries one day!]

[She has to wonder though, clearly Tamaki's not giving her the silent treatment if he's catching her flakes and clapping at her. So what's with the lack of conversation?]

Y'wake up with a frog in your throat? Hopefully not a real one...

[A real frog, huh? He wants to laugh at that, but can't. Instead, he just shakes his head and covers his mouth. Unfortunately, he can't talk at all.

It's a bit difficult to explain what happened, but he tries, by... basically miming putting a shoe up to his ear. Except he's not holding a shoe, so it could be anything, really.]

Ya... slept funny? [Doll frowns, furrowing her brow in hard thought. If Tamaki can't talk, that means she has to work to understand him. It's okay, it'd be just like learning the particular way Snake spoke.]

Wait wait wait, I got it! Y'found a shell on the lake an' listened to it! An' it stole your voice!

[puddingemote]

[That's... close. Tamaki's eyes widen, and he looks pleased that she is starting to understand. He leans down and taps his shoe. Then he mimes the same action again.

Maybe he should find an easier way to communicate...]

[Doll frowns, looking at Tamaki's shoes then back up to his face. Surely he didn't... listen to his shoe...? She's misunderstanding something.]

Ya... slept on your shoes?

[puddingemote]

[And now she's gone in the wrong dimension. Tamaki sighs through his nose (luckily he doesn't need his voice for that!) and slumps, giving his head a shake.

This is getting frustrating. He's about past his tolerance for this.]

Wait wait wait, no, I can figg'r it out, jus' gimme a moment!

[She waves her arms around frantically, hoping Tamaki isn't getting mad because she's failing at the guessing game.]

Somethin' to do with your shoes though, yeah?

[puddingemote]

[He blinks when she starts flailing around. That's a little bit of an overreaction, he feels like.

But at least she's getting close again. He nods now, then mimics listening to the shoe again.]

[Doll does flips and makes friends. And does flips for friends, sometimes metaphorically-- upsetting one of them is a line she never wants to cross intentionally.]

[She watches the movement again and, wincing, says what sounds incredibly stupid.]

You.... listened to yer shoe?

[puddingemote]

[Tamaki tends to do whatever suits him and hope people like him anyway. Upsetting people is a matter of course, though he usually doesn't intend to. Maybe one day he will learn to be a little more considerate.

But right now, Doll has finally hit the nail on the head. Tamaki nods excitedly, and claps again, like Doll has just won the most ridiculous game of charades ever.

He would give her a prize, but he's empty-handed.]

[YAS, SHE GOT IT! Doll joins him in the clapping, excited that her stupid guess was actually productive. But then they're left with the truly bizarre part:]

...wait so, y'listened t'yer shoe and now you can' talk?

[puddingemote]

[Tamaki gives a sad nod. It's weird, he knows, but there's not much he can do about it. He doesn't even know what's causing it, after all.

He shrugs helplessly.]

...huh. Tha's new. [But there are snake people around and her brother flies into trees when he's drunk, so losing your voice from listening to shoes isn't so far a stretch.]

Didja talk t'that Zecora lady? Joker told me that if I ever felt bad, I should go see her.

[He shakes his head. He planned to go there after he ate... probably. He's not very good at going to the doctor without being dragged there.]
