MUSHI DISASTER
Who: Anyone and everyone; it’s a mingle-style log!
What: A sudden spike in the mushi population brings some trouble to the carnival.
When: Around day 87-90
Where: All around the carnival
Warnings: Illness, potentially some minor body horror, and so on

[Following the recent disappearance of Ginko and Tanyuu’s mushi repellent, there will be a sudden increase in the number of mushi in the carnival this week.
This is a mingle-style log, so just post a toplevel, tag out, and have fun with mushi disasters! Event information and questions are here.]

"True." That's fair, he guesses. Even if this is because of him, he's not the one who brought it on directly. "It's good to hear that, then. With any luck, it'll stay that way."

The one mushi that had flowed up onto Scout's boot has settled for now in the shadow under another table, skulling around probing for nothing she can figure out. She keeps an eye on it in case it decides to move. "Do you know why they're so attracted to you?"

"While most living things are made up primarily of matter, mushi have higher concentrations of pure life force in their bodies. Since they don't have much physical matter to them, those who can't see the life force that they contain can't perceive them at all."
He nods, though it's not particularly enthusiastic. "...Sort of. It's a condition that shows up in people every so often in my world. It's said to a quality of the person's... 'soul', I suppose you could say. Not much is known about it beyond that."
no subject
"Life force, huh?" Her fingers tap on the table and her lips purse. "We have organisms like that, but they're very tiny. The midichlorians I mention live in animal and plant cells. Some can host a lot more than others. No one knows why, but the results can be pretty dramatic."

If she hadn't had his interest already, she definitely would now. These sound like exactly the kind of thing he's used to studying anyway.

Some of the actual results, though - those are certainly something else entirely. "All that because of these... midichlorians? So, that concentration of life energy gives these creatures a stronger connection to it."
Man he wishes he had something to take notes with right now.

"Some people have more, too, and can... make a use of that connection. In Duinuogwuin it's one in every three, but they're unusual. It's very rare otherwise." She smiles faintly and deliberately echoes what Ginko said earlier. "It's kind of a mysterious condition, but it's not just that they host more - if you inject blood from someone with a high count into someone with a normal count, their counts will be elevated for a while, but it'll just make them sick and have unusual dreams."
