Adventure was something Helen Magnus never shied from and exploring the vastness of the underground Sanctuary, far beyond those walls was something she couldn't deny herself. So it was that she found herself here, under contract to the Ringmaster with her eyes wide with wonder at it all. The lights and colours, the excitement, the darker elements shining through here and there. It was as familiar as it was alien and she drank it in with an eagerness she had long felt lacking. It stirred her as she moved through tents, passed people much like her who had joined perhaps years before her. A bright flash of a tail there, wings, glowing skin, all of these people becoming Abnormals or were in the beginning. The sheer fascination would have been enough, really.

"Excuse me?" she asked, reaching out to catch the attention of one of the people she had fallen into step with, "I seem to have found myself a bit lost. I was looking for the medical tent and I seem to have completely gotten myself turned around. If you could point me in the right direction, I'd be most grateful."

Aah, cinders! [And there's one now, cleaning up a bit.] They're used for what would be considered 'basic' tasks-many of them act as janitors!

May I take a closer look at it? [She wouldn't disturb its work of course, that would be intensely rude, but it would pause their walk for a moment.]

Auh...if you wish? They are not entirely responsive...

[Indeed they aren't-this is probably because they're basically eternally bound souls, actually.

Don't worry Helen, it takes a STEEP crime to earn that role.

Also, they really don't talk.]

That's alright. [She doesn't stop long just enough to watch them with a look of fascination. There is no doubt that Helen will be interested in everything for a great deal of time.]

They're very industrious. [She nods, ready to move on.] Exactly what are they? And I gather their primary purpose is repair?

Mmm, quite so, though I, the man Gongenzaka, do not believe repair is something they are typically trusted with unless it is minor...

Rather, they typically stand in for a lack of employees in minor tasks! Roustabout in particular is one of them, [he explains. So basically, all the little odd jobs, the folks manning the midway stands, that sort of thing. They certainly have ride jockeys, but not enough to cover the entire carnival on their own.]

Ah, indeed. That certainly makes sense. Do we have a headcount on how many of us there are? [Helen feels as if she is preparing for work already, not that it isn't a good idea. The more she can learn the better.]

A headcount..? [Hmmmm.] Aside from perhaps the Ringmaster...I, the man Gongenzaka, should think that both the Warden and Nightrider would have some form of such a list....Zecora, as our primary doctor, may also have such a list in the medical records...

Good, then, I do plan to, eventually, visit Zecora. [Helen nods slowly.] Not to mention meeting up with your Warden and Nightrider. I will, of course, meet as many as possible. It seems only right.

[A wise choice, and he indicates so with a nod.] It may be difficult, but I, the man Gongenzaka, am certain that it is manageable if you put your heart into it..!

...for those in medical at least, it seems an inevitability... [he mutters, grimacing.]

I am sure to do so, then. [Helen is more than sure she'll meet many people considering she tends to poke her nose into just about everything. Curiosity is something she possesses in great quantities.]

If I may, what sort of animals does the carnival house?

Animals? There are quite a number of them, actually...the Circus Tent does include beast related performances, so, as such, we have a number of creatures cared for here...

Ginko would be who you should speak with in order to know more, however.

Well, then. I guess I have a great many more people to speak to, then. [Helen added Ginko to her mental list and nodded as she walked with him.] So, which is your favourite part of the Carnival?

Auh-

[Annnnnd there is where he gets caught.] My...My favorite? [He repeats somewhat dumbly, visibly stuck.]

Mhm. Do you enjoy the travel, the magic, the people you meet, the performances, the games? The changes? [Helen shrugs a little thoughtfully.] I suppose some might enjoy becoming something different.

Ah...

[Hmm. Well, he must confess-] As a matter of fact, I, the man Gongenzaka, came here for training. Time does not pass where we came from...and in the moment I am from, we are in a dire situation, [he admits, looking downward.] ...It is for that reason, which I, the man Gongenzaka, swore to use a year contract in order to train myself here.

That is an excellent reason for being here. I do hope it's going well and that you are learning what you need in order to help your people. [Helen smiles a little. It a good, solid goal.] You're doing okay with your changes in regard to your training?

....it has been a path of challenges, [He answers honestly, giving a nod.] ...I, the man, Gongenzaka, have had much to consider with regard to what comes home with me.

The challenges are the best part of this, I think. They make you stronger and even wiser than you were when you first arrived. [She glanced up at him with a slight grin.]

Do you have a preliminary list of things you'll take with you?

Auh, a li-

Th- I, the man Gongenzaka, did not refer to physical matters..! [he hurriedly corrects.] I speak of skills, powers-my world is a world devoid of magic...

...to bring magic there, even in the form of perhaps a scroll, brings impressive responsibility for the potential consequences!

That would probably be pretty impressive, especially if it's needed. But will it work properly without creating conflict?

[Helen nods a little but she's thinking. Bringing magic could have all sorts of unforeseen consequences.]

Aaah, that it could.

But that question is the very thing that I, the man Gongenzaka, must consider as well...to alter the balance of things to such an extent...

...depending on the consequences, such an act could well be UNFORGIVABLE..!

Quite so. That in itself is a heavy burden but it's wonderful to see you thinking about all the angles of it, as you must. I'm sure, when the time comes, you'll have exactly what you need.

[He'll be fine, Helen's sure of it. He's thinking the right way about it after all. Her smile is nothing but encouraging.]

[It is...somehow comforting to hear that, at least. He pauses for a moment, and goes silent, but he manages to speak eventually, a smile coming to his face.] ....I...

...I, the man Gongenzaka, must thank you for those words.

...They mean quite a bit, truly.

You are very welcome. [Helen smiled back and nodded.] I'm so glad they've helped.
