Who: Pearl and whoever is around...
What: Another gem finds her way to the carnival...she is not impressed.

After running in to Steven in the mirror maze and figuring out that she had in fact done something to incur the need for a contract, Pearl had taken it fairly well. She didn't like it, but what was she going to do? Even if she hadn't, she couldn't exactly leave Steven here and now she needed to get an idea about exactly where here was.

Pearl had decided to start with the essential places: her new trailer, where she would perform, and where to find others. After looking at a map of the grounds she'd decided that the best place to start (aside from the trailers) was the Cookhouse. She wasn't a fan of food herself, but she could use the familiar layout of a kitchen to find some comfort in this place. Besides, if most lifeforms here required food it would be a good place to get some insight. A year wasn't TERRIBLY long for a gem, but it was enough time that she'd need to know a little more about this place, especially if she was going to be able to help Steven at all. He had three months on her and she needed to learn all that she could to "catch up" as it were.

If you meet her around the Backyard she is mostly looking at trailer numbers and trying to locate her own. This is similar to how she just wanders the carnival grounds just to see what she's gotten herself into and to familiarize herself with the layout.

Otherwise, she will make her way towards The Cookhouse and do a little people watching. She may get ahead of herself and clean up any tables that are left dirty or reorganize certain areas if there are more pepper shakers on one table and no napkins on another. She's an organized gem and sees it as her duty to make sure these things are sorted out if she's going to be staying here. You might notice she doesn't actually eat anything herself.

After that, her tour will take her to the Big Top, as even though shows have not begun yet this is where she has been assigned to work: as a performer. She wants to get a feel for what kind of act she can put on or what is already being done. You may see her try a few moves of dance or attacks with a spear to get a feel for the space. Just be careful not to get into a fight with her hologram Pearl, who may or may not be summoned to spar with her.

"I'm Pearl," she begins, she doesn't interact with humans the way Rose used to or Steven does. But she knows the normal social cues and she knows it will be a part of living here for a year that she'll have to get used to it. Although, given his appearance, he's been here long enough for this place to start effecting him, but she assumes that originally he was human. "And yes, I've only really been here a few hours by now. I ran into someone I knew from home that mentioned there were others here...so I thought it might be nice to know where they are staying." Steven had failed to get her a trailer number, but she could hardly blame him given the fact that there was quite a bit going on with her arrival.

"Do you know Steven or Greg? I imagine they'd be staying together. The others I'm interested in finding are Amethyst, Peridot, and I guess Lapis Lazuli," Pearl adds the last name a little reluctantly. She doubts Lapis will be glad to see her, but might as well include her in the list since finding her might mean finding Peridot or Steven.

"I don't have Steven or Greg's trailer number on hand, but they're in the row behind," he admits, but he does point behind him, to the row of trailers that's arranged in the same configuration of the row that they're at. "I've never really paid attention to the trailer number because they've decorated the trailer. It's really difficult to miss." When there were glow in the dark stars on the outside of the trailer, it really wasn't difficult to miss.

"Peridot is actually head of engineering, so I think you're more likely to find her in the Supervisor's Grove than in the park. You just... need to walk all the way down. It's kind of easy to spot the Grove, but I've never actually stepped inside there before." He has had no reason, to, actually. "I can walk you there, if you'd like." He'll offer out of politeness.

He's going to look sheepish by the end. "I'm sorry I'm not entirely familiar with the rest of the names." He sounds apologetic, because some of the Carnival workers? He recognises them by face because he sees them around, but Yamato hasn't had a chance to ask for everyone's names or work with everyone just yet.

Pearl notes the direction and is honestly not surprised to hear the state of their trailer. She doubts the stars are even arranged in any accurate pattern or recognizable constellation either. And with just Greg and Steven...she shudders to think of what the interior might look like.

As for the others, well, Peridot's position she'd heard about. She hadn't realized that meant a special trailer area though. Everyone else would be up in the air it seemed. That wasn't a problem though, it wasn't like Pearl didn't have time to kill. It probably wouldn't be difficult to run into the likes of Amethyst eventually and if she could avoid Lapis, well, all the better.

She holds up a hand, "It's all right. I appreciate the answers you could give. We don't have to find Peridot...I was mostly just curious where they all might be. My main concerns are Steven and Amethyst and I'm sure if I can find him again I can probably find her."

He's not actually expecting for Pearl to accept his offer, so he doesn't look offended in the slightest when she turns him down. "No problem. I'm sorry I couldn't help any more than this."

He is, however, going to cock his head at her, curiously. "If you don't mind me asking, did you know all of them from--" Uh, shit, how is he supposed to put it forward without making it sound weird... "--from wherever you were from, before? I mean."

Pearl seems mostly familiar with most of them already, unlike when he first arrived and didn't know anyone.

It doesn't strike her as a strange question at all, in fact she looks rather unphased. "Yes. I only know they're here because I met up with Steven when I first stumbled upon this place. He mentioned they were here--though I haven't actually encountered most of them yet," she replies thoughtfully. Steven had made it seem like it wasn't that unique for them, but Pearl could also understand feeling lonely and apart from your friends. She'd certainly spent a few centuries that way as well -- just her and the surviving Crystal Gems.
