Who: Jack and YOU!
What: Jack's come here on a mission and he really doesn't care about socializing, but bug him anyway! Just an intro log to get him assimilated before the AU event.
Where: The Carnival, the lake, wherever.
When: Day 103~105

[It was performance week, but Jack's late arrival meant he didn't actually have to work yet. He wasn't exactly thrilled with the job he'd been assigned either, but he had full confidence he would excel at it. He was supposed to be a Talker, so all he needs to do was learn more about the attractions he was supposed to talk about.

He thinks.

Unfortunately, Jack has no plans to make himself useful until he's asked. While he walks himself and his bike--which is essentially just a motor on a giant wheel--through the park with the sole intent of getting to his trailer and staying there, he has to walk through the gamer's circle first. The flashing lights and noise just make him look more sour than usual, at least, until he comes across a stand where you shoot down strafing, cut-out clowns with a water gun.]

Hmph... [That annoying smile. The make-up. Those two, tufts of hair on either side of its head. It reminds him of someone irritating.

Just for that, Jack steps up to the plate, grabbing the water gun with bravado.] Is that the best you can do?!

[He's really taking his aggression out on those clowns.]

[The carnival itself didn't really interest him. Jack wasn't here to have fun; he was here with a goal in mind, and because of that he didn't feel inclined to "goof off". It's only been two days, and while his conviction hasn't wavered, he'd much rather be somewhere quiet and alone. Meeting Carly here was an unexpected twist.

He's taken to sitting on one of the rocks far off to the wayside of the lake, tossing smaller ones into the water. It's just something to do while he thinks.

Why not ruin it for him?]

[Jack is probably in the way or being loud, somewhere, somehow. We can hash out an idea on my plurk danderly or just wing it!]

[Jack would believe Yuya's from the future before he believed he beat him in a duel. Except he doesn't believe either right now; the obvious answer is he's just a fan. Yuya's a little too old to hit his soft spot for kids, but he's not completely dismissive, even if he seems exasperated; that's normal.]

If you want an autograph, then just ask for it. Lying is unbecoming!

I'm not lying! It's how the carnival works! [He crosses his arms with a huff.] Whatever it's not important anyway.

[Now that's a lie, it was all pretty important. But if Jack is anything like how he knew him, just making claims won't win him over any.] ... Are you having fun?

[If he works here he should at least assume the patrons are enjoying themselves.]

[Jack lets the subject drop, letting out an indignant huff of his own.]

I'm not here to have fun. [Says the guy who was just playing a carnival game.

He clenches his fist.] I'm here for my contract!

You signed one too? [He leans back a bit, surprised.] What'd you sign a contract for?

Why else would I be here? [He scoffs, only because he was lucky enough to have accidentally incurred debt on his way in instead.]

I'm here to find a new power. [He'll refrain telling him much, if only because he doesn't know who this kid may tell in turn.] To fight with in the WRGP!

The what? [That doesn't sound like "Friendship Cup.] That's for... duel monsters, right?

[So he was here to train for competition? Hopefully he didn't expect to find a lot of duelists...]

[Jack's found a fatal flaw in Yuya's story!]

You claim to be from the future and you don't even know what the World Racing Grand Prix is?

Well... the future gets kind of complicated. [Like, split into four dimensions complicated. Having it spelled out to him doesn't make him any more familiar, but if it's a world race maybe it just wasn't relevant?] When I met you, you were the Duel King of the Friendship Cup. That was the tournament for the City.

Forget it, I don't want to hear it!

[Jack declares suddenly, cutting Yuya off towards the end.]

Whether you're telling the truth or not, I'm already fighting to change one future, I don't need to hear about another.

[hippocarnival]

[Yuya snaps to attention at that, looking shocked.] Huh?! But... what future are you trying to change?

[kingofd]

[He's pretty sure he's said more than he's supposed to. With Illiaster's power, it wouldn't be good to get some no-name kid accidentally involved.]

It's none of your concern.

[hippocarnival]

... Okay. [Conversation closed, then. Maybe that's for the best--Yuya doesn't need to try and wrap his mind around more quantum physics.]

So... what's your job with the carnival?

[kingofd]

[Since Yuya gracefully lets the old topic drop, Jack feels a little more inclined to actually answer his next question.]

I'm a "Talker". [He lets out a huff.] This is beneath me, but I won't be stuck with it long.

[hippocarnival]

A year and a day, right? [Yuya glances up as he tries to remember what a 'Talker' does, again.] You talk to the guests and get them excited, right? That's not so bad.

[kingofd]

Less than that. I should be the one guests are getting excited to see!

[He clenches his fist, per usual.] I don't have any interest in talking up someone else to a crowd.

[hippocarnival]

Maybe if you ask the Ringmaster she'll let you switch? [He hasn't heard of anyone changing jobs, but he has heard a few people doing multiple jobs. She could probably be flexible. He looks hopeful!] There's no dueling, exactly, but if you're a performer you can make your own show!

[kingofd]

I plan on it. [They're in the middle of performance week right now, so it's not urgent. He doesn't actually have to do anything yet, and he needs to get his bike to his trailer still.

Jack gives Yuya a long stare, as if considering it before he turns his nose up.] All I know is dueling, there's nothing else for me! It's just a matter of finding opponents who are worth my time.

[hippocarnival]

Uh, but there aren't a lot of duelists here... [He can count them on one hand.] Unless you taught more people how to play? Or someone who would always duel you for the show, like a partner.

[Jack looks offended by the mere idea that someone who he just taught how to duel would be a challenge to him. He's not interesting in teaching anyone anything right now. He's here to find a new source of power in his own dueling, and he was still fired up over what happened mere hours before he got here.]

Just tell me who the duelists are!

[hippocarnival]

Every duelist, or the worthy ones? [He totally thinks he's a worthy duelist, for the record.]

[Jack doesn't even pause to consider the question.] The worthy ones.

[hippocarnival]

I really only know about Gongenzaka and I's skills... but we're really good!

[He's not sure if he should vouch for Yugo or not, he knows very little about his dueling. And he's never seen Carly duel, but he's pretty sure sending this guy after her without any warning would be kind of mean. Maybe she's just casual!!]

You?

[Said with an incredulous up-pitch.]

I'll decide that for myself.

[hippocarnival]

[Yep, that sounds like Jack.] I don't have a d-wheel here, but we can duel after the performances! There's always a week for everyone to take a break.

[kingofd]

[Jack steps back over to Wheel of Fortune, flipping up the kickstand and supporting its weight one-handed via the top rim. He gives Yuya a sidelong stare.]

You better not disappoint me.

[Yuya said he was "really good", so Jack's going to be pretty annoyed if it turns out he was just full of hot air. This is a challenge to live up to that expectation.]
