Where: Portland area, in the new reality- Specifically Sanctuary, and some random abandoned office building.
What: TERRIBLE SNACKRIFICES FOR SOULS!!!
Warnings: Carly is literally murdering a man (it won't be given much detail however and the log itself is mostly chatter before and outside the scene.)

[Anath's forces were on the move. Scouts were now appearing, trying to convince her to their side of things, and while she was nervous, Aslla seemed to be growing even more antsy with the passing days. 'We need more power,' he finally hissed, practically breaking his voice as it shook. 'I need SOULS!'

She had balked, of course. It was hard enough to get one soul, but multiple? And the things it would take...

...So he dangled their agreement over her head. An agreement that, unbeknownst to her, wasn't even real, an agreement that only Aslla Piscu knew to be false...

...But even with her thoughts scrambling hour after hour, it still felt so important.

So.

One soul, she agreed. She would conduct the ritual, and with any luck claw their way to the strength they needed to weather out the tide. Did Aslla already have enough strength? Would he make it just getting a single soul's worth? she didn't know.

They had to try though, right?]

I'm afraid of Anath, at this point!! Jack, demons have honestly been going 'missing' as she gets closer to this place, and that means anyone she approaches here could be n-

[Jack pauses, seeming bewildered by Carly's question. It takes him several seconds of staring to realize that things didn't quite add up in his head. This is just like before, and he hasn't gotten any closer to finding out why he feels like he knows her.]

I know enough to know this isn't something you want to do!

[Carly stares for a few moments, that wrenching, gut feeling half plunging through her chest again. Something doesn't feel right again, something odd...but all she can find herself thinking is that this feels familiar, and more importantly...

...That Jack has no idea what he's facing.] ...I'm going to be okay, alright? ...But I need to do this. ...I... ...it's not a ritual I enjoy, [she mutters-and that puts it lightly] ...but I have to do this.

[He huffs and stomps towards her, then right past her as he heads for the door. He can't believe she's going to listen to that parasite over him.

Why does his chest hurt? This isn't a sensation he's ever felt before, and yet it feels all too familiar.]

Then let's find someone suitable. I don't have all day.

[This all leaves a bad taste in his mouth, but a deal's a deal, and Jack can't back out of it. His pride won't let him; to back down from his word once would be to shatter the reputation he's built. He refuses to be seen as one of those stereotypical sneaking, conniving demons.]

She looks almost struck-more touched than insulted obviously, but struck with a wave of hurt like nothing else.

She nods in the end.] ...There... .... Dignity Village should work...

[It's where all the homeless are, after all.]

[If Anath really is as powerful as Carly says she is, he doesn't want to leave her alone until she's powered up. If she dies, he won't be able to fulfill his favour.]

We can take our bikes.

[That's all Jack says before he's out the door.]

[And so they shall. With a grim nod they'll head to their bikes, and toward the sea of tents and garden and roses that is 'Dignity Village'. The resident Fae seem to be seeking something out here as well-but that's hardly what's important.

What's important is the Victim.]

... [Jack's not sure what to make of the place when he gets there. By the time they park their bikes, there are several sets of eyes on them. Normally Jack would hardly notice or care, but he hasn't been able to shake a feeling of uneasiness from moment they drove up.]

Is this really it? It hardly evokes its namesake.

[Jack doesn't get it, but what he does get is that these people were clearly homeless and living in poverty.]

They're just homeless. [Jack points out, but he at least stops before getting back onto his bike.]

If you're going to find someone, then find someone who deserves it.

We're not after the homeless..!! [she hisses, huffing.] We're after...ah-!

[And very quickly, she's ducking behind a tent-as someone wearing a trenchcoat approaches a number of folk gathered around a small fire.]

[Carly ducks behind a tent, but Jack just continues standing out in the open, merely turning his head to look over at her.]

What are you hiding for? They're just merchants.

[She gives the biggest look shock before immediately pulling him over by the arm.]

Drug merchants who will do something if someone from a better life comes and spots them..! [She hisses, the trenchcoat fellow glancing around a moment.] And I need them alive!

[Something that won't happen if mister merchant pulls a gun.]

[Jack stumbles into hiding with her, looking only slightly exasperated as a result.]

Drug merchants...?! [He shouts back, but not at his full volume.]

I see, so that's who you're after.

[Jack still doesn't like the idea of ripping out someone's soul, but drug dealers only make life worse for those they prey on.]

SSsssshhhHHH-!! [JACK HOLYSHIT-

She nods though, and glances back to watch the trench coat fellow.] By necessity, they're more cut off from society... ...but unlike most like that, I can at least tell myself I'm helping a little, that way.. [She's thought this out. ...To an unfortunate extent that shows in how grim her tone still is.] ...He's leaving-we need to follow him until he's alone.

[He's not very sneaky.

Jack can't say he really agrees with her, his feelings on the matter are mixed, but something keeps him from opening his mouth. Something in him that doesn't want to make her feel worse.]

Why don't I just challenge him to a duel? If he loses, he has to come with us. It's simpler than us skulking around, and it's direct!

A...A duel?! He doesn't even have a bike, Jack, what are you going to duel him with..? [She whispers, blinking rapidly.] You'd have to keep him from running first, for that matter...

[Carly's about to have her world shook.]

...We should be hitting a space behind the tents soon, so that's as good a chance as any... [She's only relenting because you'll be impossible to deal with otherwise, she's sure.]

[Jack stomps forward unsubtly, stalking the target in question. He doesn't go unnoticed, but most of the patrons just don't seem to care that much. Soon enough they've caught up to the man while he's behind the tents, but instead of Jack calling out to him, he ignites hellfire to block off all his exits.]

[Evidently so. The figure ahead jumps back and freezes, which is probably a typical response to a sudden fire fence. Normally he'd make some kind of jab back but, well. This is a thing.

He's trying anyway.] H...Hahahaha...What is this, some kind of trick? And who the hell are you?! [He snips back at Jack, spying the man as he turns around.]

I'm the King Jack Atlas, and you're not leaving until we've dueled!

[Jack clenches his fist, feeling a pit in his stomach. Carly's watching... He was careful to make sure the flames locked her in with him; not because he wanted her to bear witness, but because it was easier to keep an eye on her this way.]

You toy with other people's lives, and now you'll be betting with your own.
