[OPEN] 3 Spoopy 5 Me

Who: Tamaki and Anyone!
When: Post Day 145
Where: The Summerlands
What: Tamaki's realized he kept a... useful ability from his time as a ghost.
Warnings: Depends on what you want to talk about.

The first time he'd used it had been an accident; without even really thinking about it, Tamaki started to walk through the wall of the cookhouse like he used to as a ghost and-

Well. He crashed into it. Fell flat on his butt, actually. It took him a moment to remember that oh yeah, he's solid again. Walking through walls isn't really a thing he can do anymore.

Though he'd still been a bit curious to see if he really couldn't get through the wall anymore; being able to phase through things easily was really the only nice thing about being a ghost. He'd leaned against the wall of the cookhouse, remembering the way it felt to be completely weightless, just a person-shaped mass of soul energy that could go anywhere-

And then he fell through and landed on his face. Welp.

That little bit of slapstick dispatched, Tamaki was eager to try out his new ability on the Carnival. Which is what lead to now, where a seven-foot teenager has just walked through the wall. He glows blue for a moment before coming solid again, looking all around the space before his eyes land on the person he just most likely startled.

Trailers, tents, game stalls... the only thing he seems to be purposefully avoiding entering unlawfully is bathrooms. He could really be anywhere.

At which point he'll look at the person he just so rudely intruded upon, blinking like they're the ones who just showed up.

"Uh. Pardon the intrusion."

He didn't notice at all. So at Tamaki's explanation, Strange's eyes widen and he's suddenly a lot more interested in how Tamaki actually got here. Because walking through the wall? What the heck?! When could he do that?

"I wonder...if it's not too much trouble, would you mind walking through the wall again so I can actually see it this time?"

Partly so he can be a nerd, partly because that fun little third eye trick he's picked up works better if he's aware or familiar with the magic to begin with.

It's interesting. There's something in the magic that still rings true of Portland. After all, that was where Tamaki first learned the spell. But Strange somehow knows that the blueness is instinctively Tamaki's essence helping to power the magic.

"That was amazing." And now, more nerdy questions are coming. "Is there a limit to what you can pass through? What about animate versus inanimate objects?"
kingsroads: (well why don't we do this?)

"Oh, if you got stuck halfway, then I'd simply use my magic to break whatever you were stuck in to begin with." It's said as if it's completely obvious. Of course Strange would cause property damage, that's a forseeable casualty in finding out just what Tamaki can do.

"As for big things...there is a tree near the training grounds that is quite big--and not at all homicidal! You should try and float through that one!"

Don't mind Strange as he just rattles off suggestion after suggestion of what Tamaki can to do test his magic. Because OBVIOUSLY Tamaki is going to run more tests to test this magic, why wouldn't he?
kingsroads: (maybe don't DO that?!)

If Strange recognizes Tamaki's nervousness, he isn't showing it. Strange just looks downright excited at the idea of Tamaki phasing through a large object or doing something dangerous or having no regards for personal safety.

"I don't see why it wouldn't be safe. You might get stuck but I doubt you would actually die. That's a bit too melodramatic," says the reigning king of melodrama.

"Besides, don't you want to see how well this new magic works?"

"I can't promise that entirely. If you do something silly of your own volition, then of course something will happen. But I can at least promise you that I won't let you get stuck."

It's said with total seriousness. Strange might not yet know what sort of magic he could use to get Tamaki unstuck if that were to happen, but he should be able to do something. After all, he knows from experience that being stuck in a tree is amazingly unpleasant. Tamaki's a good kid. Let's not have him stuck and/or traumatized while testing the limits of his magic.

Nowhere in Strange's mind does the option of 'don't do the thing in the first place' show up.

"Good! Then follow me!" And, setting down what he was working on, Strange starts to head out of his trailer...but thankfully realizes he's still barefoot from turning into smoke earlier. He bends down to put on his socks and shoes as he continues yammering on to Tamaki.

"But yes, I do know a tree. I don't think it's the oldest tree in the Ringmaster's woods, but it's certainly one of the largest. Of course, if that damned Coco is out roaming about, I'm afraid I'll have to leave you to figure this out by yourself."

The Ringmaster's Exeggutor still hates Strange and Strange hates the Ringmaster's Exeggutor. They get by on mutual loathing and Strange creating a convenient puddle to vanish through whenever he hears that awful thing approach.
