Who: Yuya & everyone
When: Day 146-152
Where: Around the Carnival & Summerlands
What: Recovery, new changes, and continued antics while the carnival has a nice, long break.
Warnings: None, probably?
[Handstands]
[Yuya's in significantly better health than when they first arrived. He can still feel the residual pain and his stamina is rebuilding, but he's much more lively than before. He also realizes he needs to rebuild his strength, so even if he can't perform yet he's at least practicing so that he'll be ready to bounce back into action as soon as he's cleared.
He's taking his exercise outside the tents so the rest of the performers have plenty of room, and instead can be found tending to his errands around the carnival... on his hands. Just walking on his hands, knees bent for better balance as he navigates from the trailers to the cookhouse for lunch.] Excuse me! Coming through!
[Shadow]
[His shadow has been acting up since he returned. At first he was sure it was just a trick of his mind, but the long it goes on, the more chances he has to see that it is, in fact, just moving on its own sometimes. Okay, that's weird, but he just tries to ignore it. Only it doesn't end there, and by the second week it's taken on a different shape entirely. That's not uncommon, he's been assured, but when he finds it morphed into someone a little broader, taller (older), with hair that spikes up... it's unsettling.
He knows who it looks like. He's standing, shoulders tense as he glares at his own shadow. In the middle of the walkway.]
[Summerlands]
[Yuya's come to accept the Summer people. They're certainly not at domineering, volatile, or frightening as the rest of the Summer Court, and plenty of veterans--not the mention the Ringmaster seem to trust them wholly. So he's navigated deeper into the city, to one of the miracle gardens hidden behind pillars and wisteria.
It's a very small, circular garden, flush and green with scattered flowers. The greatest concentration of them, currently, is around Yuya--who's sitting down with dried fruit to snack on, looking serene.
It's easy to tell what's going on, because as soon as anyone steps in with a positive feeling flowers will start to sprout near them. The better they feel the bigger, brighter, more beautiful the flowers become. They smell wonderful, and something about that scent will bring good memories more easily to the front of their mind--no doubt generating more good feelings and more flowers. It's cyclical.]

He perks up.] That's good! I guess you're getting used to things quickly?
no subject
Me, I can live anywhere.
[It's just too quiet when he sleeps. Not that the Carnival is necessarily quiet, just not having family, in some form or another, nearby.]
The people look kinda weird around here. [A shrug.] But people are people, no matter how they look.
[He'd be a hypocrite if he judged too hard.]
So you're a performer, huh? You do that back home, too?
no subject
He grins at that next question, though.] Yeah! I'm an entertainment duelist, so I make people smile and have fun with my duels. Here I'm just an acrobat, but I still try and get my audience to have fun.
no subject
An entertainment duelist?
[He'd noticed in his roaming that people don't seem to duel here. At least not where he can see it. It'd be hard to walk through Satellite without seeing someone -- adults, kids -- duelling. And just the way people hadn't understood what a D-Wheel was...
It was weird.]
You're talking 'bout Duel Monsters, yeah?
[He wouldn't call Jack an entertainment duelist, necessarily. But what he did do back in the City was definitely considered entertainment. Just because there had been a sea between them doesn't mean that Crow hadn't been watching Jack's duels.]
What do you do to get your audience all worked up?
no subject
After a moment of dizzy swaying as the blood rushes back out of his head, he looks up at Crow.] We have Action Duels where you run around a whole field with your monsters. And there's spell cards scattered around called action cards--they can help a lot if you get one, but they can also be dangerous.
[He spreads his arms wide.] As an entertainment duelist, I use the field and my deck to make the match as exciting as possible. Like tricks, and really risky plays.
no subject
Interesting!
[But he bets it can't compare to riding duels (of course). Still, it really does sound interesting.]
I'd love to try it out and see your duel myself. [A grin.] Didn't think there were any other duelists around, after scouting out this place.
[Besides Jack... and that Dark Signer.]
no subject
I promised a duel with my friend first, but maybe after that we can have one too! [A pause.] Does your duel disk have Real Solid Vision in it?
no subject
It has Solid Vision, if that's what you're asking.
[Crow stsands up, hands in his pockets.]
Dunno what you mean by "Real", here.
no subject
[It's not something he's had to worry about during an actual action duel, since RSV became so widespread long before he was dueling or traveling dimensions.] I guess if it doesn't you could borrow Gongenzaka or Yugo's duel disk?
no subject
So you can... touch them?
[Crow's jaw drops open. Damn, that sounds cool!! Pumping a fist, he says, exuberant--]
Oh, yeah! I'm not gonna miss out!
[Borrowing it is, if it doesn't work. Grinning, Crow adds--]
Hell, if you let me tinker a bit with your disks, I could mod mine.
[Maybe. Yusei is much better at this stuff than he is, but Crow's good at changing what's already there.]
no subject
[Reiji had modified them initially, but he assumes Reiji also had the tech for that.] Maybe... but if you mess with it you can't break it!
[He would have to wait a whole year for a replacement and that'd blow.]
no subject
Me? Break your Duel Disk? No way!
[A pause.]
'Sides, I can fix everything I break.
[Doesn't that fill you with confidence, Yuya?]
no subject
Talking about dueling reminds him, though--] Did you find Jack?
no subject
[Shacking up with a Dark Signer broad--
Compared to the last time Yuya had mentioned Jack to him, Crow's reaction is much milder. He just folds his arms and rolls his eyes so hard they might fall out of his face.]
Years later and he's still the same. [A pause before Crow admits] But it was good to see him again.
[Even after Crow punched him, hard.]
no subject
[Boy is it ever.]
no subject
[A pause, because the way he had said it sounded really stupid. But it's the truth, maybe?]
... From the future. Or something. So all the stuff I'm fighting for now, it's just a memory to him.
[It was nice having confirmation his kids will be okay, though a part of him wants to actually see it with his own eyes.]
Guessing you went through the same kinda stuff with your friends?
no subject
[He doesn't even try to figure it out.]
no subject
But hmm.]
Maybe that's why our stories didn't match earlier? Jack made it sound like things are different back home. So if I haven't met you yet...
no subject
no subject
You're a good kid--
[Okay so Yuya's not that much younger than him probably, but still.]
--so it makes sense I'd give you a hand.
[Well. Anyway.]
So you're training for your performances, yeah? Is someone training you?
no subject
I guess the stage manager? I don't have someone teaching me specifically, but he's there when we need him. I work with the other acrobats, mostly.
no subject
If you need someone to, I dunno, time you while you train, I'll give you a hand.
