Who: Yuya and you!
When: S2:D28-32
Where: Carnival Grounds
What: Yuya wakes up with a couple new changes, and general carnival shenanigans
Warnings: Proooobably none?
[Balance Beams]
[Yuya woke on the 28th with no trace of Creation in him—just a little reminder on his face, of tiny stars around his cheeks and eyes that shine in the light gold of his soul color (and his other fae mark looks lighter as well.
He has a new appendage.
He’s not exactly happy about it—a thin, lizard-like tail in iridescent orange scales that’s about as along as he is tall. His tail isn’t big, so it doesn’t shift his center of gravity too much. Still, it’s just enough that Yuya notices it when trying to practice for the upcoming performances. He’s left slightly off center, and that’s not going to do in front of an audience.
So he’s taken to long hours in the big top, using the only inches high balance beams with very thin widths to try and orient himself with his new tail. Sometimes it flails wildly or Yuya teeters one direction or the other with his face pinched in concentration. He makes it to the other side easily, but it’s not as smooth and refined as he’d like it to be. If you’re walking by, try not to get smacked in the face, the legs, the anything.]
[Magic "Practice"]
[Alternatively, now that he no longer has his Guardian abilities, Yuya’s back to fairly typical magic practice. He’s got his staff out by the training area, using the glowing crystal at the end to draw various patterns on the ground.
Smiley faces, that is.
This is absolutely practice. It’s rune drawing practice or. Something.
They don’t last more than a couple minutes, but there is a constantly moving pattern of smiley faces (smiley suns, smiley flowers) going across the open field.]

He holds his arms up a little and tries to wrap his tail around his waist. He fumbles at first with the sensation, but once he's got it he grins wide at the accomplishment.
"I'll practice it!" Maybe he can adapt to this after all. "Do you have to exercise your tail, too?"
Does he need tail weights? For strength?
no subject
"Kind of." It was strong to begin with, mirroring his other limbs, but teaching it fine control was and continues to be a challenge. "I can't hold a sword with it or anything... but I'll practice picking things up with it or seeing if I can use it to catch my weight when I fall, or grabbing people." Kind of like how he'd grabbed onto Rita and Yuya, on that ride from hell.
"Yours doesn't look that strong." He eyes it with open skepticism. Sorry Yuya.

Juggling equipment? His duel disk? He looks thoughtfully at his tail as it swishes back and forth, considering the more realistic possibilities. "I saw Peridot doing that once. Can you catch yourself with your tail?"
Can he catch other people?
no subject
"Not as well as I could catch myself with an arm, and it's like someone yanking on your tail, but yeah." He probably doesn't need to elaborate that Peridot's smaller than he is, and isn't technically made of flesh and bone besides, but Yuya ought to be able to figure out that much, at least.
"It'd be easier to show you." He's not as familiar with the equipment in the Big Top as he is with the training grounds, given he almost never spends time practicing here, so he's looking around for a likely spot to demonstrate.

The big top is usually clear between performances, but there are some mid-sized acrobatic rails Lambert can use, usually part of the acts that do a lot of flipping, but not on the swinging trapeze bars or the thin tightrope. Of course, it's not designed with ladders for jumping off so he'll have to use just his arms to get above it.
Yuya, at least, points them out. "Can you show me on that?"
no subject
Coming under the rail, his height and strength makes it easy to reach up to grab ahold of the rail. With a sharp twist of his body, he smoothly pulls himself up and onto the bar, sitting on it with his tail flared out behind him to keep his balance... at least, until he deliberately starts tipping himself forward until he slips right off the railing.
At the last moment, his tail whips and twines around it, catching him before he can crash to the ground. His shirt gets tugged out of his pants along with the sudden jerk, and he swings pendulum-like for a few moments, holding the core of his body taut so he's arched like a diver mid-leap instead of folded over like a recalcitrant kitten.
He twists his head slightly to grin at Yuya, ears flicking in smug self-satisfaction as he spreads his arms wide. Ta-dahhh. It may not be as fancy as some of Yuya or Tamaki's acrobatics, but he's at least pleased he pulled it off smoothly enough.

He grins at Lambert's dramatic gesture, clapping briefly when if it isn't terribly flashy. It shows what he was asking about, anyway. "It's not exactly like using your arm, is it?"
The way he described it, anyway, it seems like the weight feels different. Yuya probably can't hope to manage that much.
no subject
Which presents its own problems, as his leg nearly buckles out from under him. Lambert swears, colorfully, more from surprise and irritation than actual pain.
no subject
"How's your leg?" He hasn't asked since it first happened, and he wouldn't have continued to if it wasn't obviously still bothering Lambert. He'll probably brush it off as being fine, but...
"What happened to that knife, anyway?" Cole took it, didn't he? Iron is dangerous for all of them... maybe he just ditched it in Wismuth.
