Because they're just in the scene of a magic book, and not actually present in reality. Unfortunately, his third eye isn't going to be terribly useful for discovering what's wrong with an illusion.
Syrlya tenses as Strange starts forward, but stops himself from surging forward with him and instead turns to look down the ramp briefly. For the moment, Strange is at least still under stealth--presuming he doesn't act out too combatively.
