What happens next is a good question and with how Childermass goes on silently frowning at the corpse, who is very clearly dead, even to him at this point, it's almost like the magician doesn't even know himself. It's his story. He should. Only—

"Something's wrong," he finally admits, getting back to his feet. "He should be alive... I brought him down here, then turned to go get paper and ink from Brewer." Only Lambert has no idea who that is, so he looks up, away, over towards the horse idly picking at what grass is left clinging to the ground not terribly far away. "Over there."

So he supposes he'll go do that, turning to follow that train of thought through. Nothing really happens after he gets there, though, rifling through Brewer's saddlebags and turning back again, only to freeze on doing so. There was no sound of another man arriving, no sign, no scent, he's just there, suddenly, standing over Vinculus with no warning. Pale, dressed in fine black robes, hair as long and dark to match, it's no one Lambert will have ever seen before and even Childermass can't quite place who that is.
