CLOSED | OUR NEW STORY
Who: Yuusei and Carly
When: While the Ringmaster is letting everyone consider her offer, before either of the two have declared their decisions
Where: In the remains of the carnival
What: A conversation about the offer and the future ahead
Warnings: Shouldn't be any but will edit if there are!
Yuusei has met a lot of people while he's been here, gotten close to some and drifted away from others as the tides of socialisation demanded. He knows he'll cherish every space-defying bond he's developed in his time here until the day he dies. He wonders, briefly, if everyone else will, too.
Yuusei Fudo did not meet Carly Nagisa in the carnival.
No, they met in their own shared world in a parking garage late at night in pursuit of a false Dark Signer. Carly Nagisa was there for a story, Yuusei Fudo was there to defeat his fated enemy. In the end, Yuusei Fudo ditched Carly Nagisa and left her for the cops to apprehend over the damage his duel had caused. They saw each other later, when the Signers and Dark Signers came together before splitting up for their respective battles, but no words were ever exchanged again. The war would occur, people would die, battles would wreak havoc, and peace would eventually come.
Yuusei Fudo met Carly Nagisa in a parking garage in Neo Domino City, but he met Carly by the fence of the ferris wheel that let him touch the stars.
He genuinely can't remember how much time has passed since then. The rapid back-and-forth between hectic events and sudden lulls in action has left him with virtually no grasp on the day of the week. He feels like he's already been here forever, even if he knows for a fact that such isn't the case. He feels like he's known Carly for an eternity, even if this eternity is maybe four or so months.
Suddenly, though? He's given the option to know her for an eternity to come, the option to know the multiverse until someone decides to strike him down. He knows Carly had plans for her future with the carnival, and with things potentially straightening out soon, she may just get that wish of hers. He, however, has no idea what to do with himself.
So when he finds Carly distinctly alone, without the attention of someone else to uphold, Yuusei approaches her, perhaps a little more briskly than he'd intended. "Hey, can I... talk to you for a moment? About, ah... All of this?"

So when he finds Carly distinctly alone, without the attention of someone else to uphold, Yuusei approaches her, perhaps a little more briskly than he'd intended. "Hey, can I... talk to you for a moment? About, ah... All of this?"

"All... ...Oh!" She nods. "...The offer..." She crosses her arms, nodding. "...Honestly, I was already going to sign on for good, so I'll definitely take it- if anything, it'll make it easier to keep afloat in my role~" she laughs. "Ahh..."
Oh. "...Yuusei... ...what are you thinking of, though..?"
no subject
Yet his smile falters somewhat. "Auhh, I don't know...!" He's clearly trying to remain in good spirits about the whole thing, but the grin he offers is perhaps a little too bright for him. "I've been considering it since the Ringmaster offered, and I think it would be interesting, at least... I might finally be able to do some magic of my own, and I think that could have some really fascinating results if I combine it with my mechanic work...
"But, aah, the whole 'altering your place in the universe' thing is a little daunting...! I mean, I still want to go back to our world once my contract is up."
His voice nearly quivers. "It's nice and all here, but I need to go back to my friends at some point, right...?"
no subject
And then the smile falters in turn. Listening to Yuusei's rambling, his nervousness... "...A...Ahh. ...I know I can't just leave it behind, not right away," she admits, wringing her hands somewhat. "Actually...I was planning to ask the Ringmaster for one more contract. ...Before I stay forever," she adds, nodding her head.
"...I was going to say...'I want to go home, to make sure I haven't left things untied'. ...So that it doesn't feel like I've left a hole..." She swallows.
"...It's... ...Maybe selfish I guess. ...But even though I would have to pretend to be someone else almost, I just want to make sure things finish happily there..."
no subject
He lowers his head, and his expression falls entirely.
"...I don't know if I want to go back, if I can stay there for a time after... all of this. But I don't know if here is right for me either, and I don't know where I would go beyond that. I just...
"I barely have an idea of where I want to end up."
no subject
One she caused, if anything.
"I...guess you'll have time to find out either way at least, right?" she offers weakly, folding her hands and fidgeting. "...It's hard. ...To know where to go, when the world moves under your feet."
no subject
"...Carly...? Can I ask something of you? And you're... free to say no to it...!"

Yuusei gently grasps Carly's hands in his own.
"You showed me this place and welcomed me here, and I got to witness so many wonderful things while I've been contracted here. I've... been through a lot since I joined this carnival, and I've gotten to meet so many people whom I never would have dreamed of the chance to see... I've been irreversibly changed, for better or worse.
"And I met you, too, truly met you for the first time here. You let me get to know you, gave me some familiarity in this world of change, and because of you I've become something more than regular human me ever could have. This, I know, is for the better. And in this time I like to think we've gotten close, close enough to where I feel so many things for you. I like to think you feel the same.
"I knew about your want to stay here forever for awhile - I remember you told me about it sometime in the past - and I don't want to stop you from doing that. Above all, all else, I want you to be happy, and I know you'll be happiest here. And I... I could handle that, I think.
"But now... we're going to be immortal?"
He offers a shaky smile, shaky but sincere.
"I don't know where specifically I want to end up in the future, if I want to be at home or in the carnival or some other place I don't know of yet... But I... I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you, or at least be by your side wherever you went."
His hold tightens. "I know an eternity, though, is a long time... And I know you've been interested in others, and I understand if one day your interest in me fades, because eternity is such a long time... And I don't have a ring or any sort of thing to offer you for the sake of this. I have my name and my body and my soul, and I would give you all of these just to have the chance of being in your presence for your eternity. No fae or cosmic force could rend my love for you, and time certainly won't either. I want to be by your side no matter where you go, no matter what you go through. I want to be a part of your immortality."
His eyes, steady at first, divert to the ground.
"That is... if you would want that too."
no subject
Carly blinks, and slowly takes one hand back so that she can lift Yuusei's face toward her own. "...I would love that, Yuusei."
She gently brings him close, and gives a soft kiss.
