PORTLAND BY NIGHT↴![]() Memory regains will come into effect at the beginning of October, to whatever degree you've decided upon, and may be regained at whatever pace you desire from then on. For those with their full carnival memories, it will be like waking up in the body of someone else - for those with half and half, it will be like rapidly recalling sets of memories from a totally different life. Those with full amnesia will simply feel as if this is how it's always been. Unfortunately for you, memories aren't the only thing you have to deal with. The supernatural community of Portland is bustling all of a sudden - could your presence and these events somehow be related? ► THE OUTER CIRCLE: As of the start of the month, the Portland Circle of Enlightenment will find itself starting to get swarmed with members from other chapters. Most notably, it would seem that a small cabal of top mages from the North American Enlightenment Council will be making their home in Portland's HQ. For anyone but the highest of ranks, the purpose behind their visit will be unclear, but it seems like something is definitely up on a metaphysical level. The Circle will be buzzing with rumours of unique planar activity and threatening omens. It seems that it all started with an unusual flare of activity in the planetary ley-lines, starting approximately a week ago. However, even if you would usually be the type to keep tabs on such things, you will find that you oddly have no memory of observing this phenomenon yourself. ► THE ANIMAL FAIR: Good news, the fair is in town! Or, at least, it would be good news... if this was a regular fair. Instead, what's being observed is a bunch of nearly identical flyers, spread all around Portland - each of which bears only the words "THE ANIMAL FAIR", a seemingly bloody paw-print of unknown origin, and the directions to a vague forested location outside of the city. It's dated for October 7th, and all instances of its posting having been discovered with a scattering of rose petals, crow feathers, and pre-burnt matches laying on the ground around them. Most are taking this to be some kind of bizarre viral marketing campaign, but others may know better. ► THE EARTH SPIRIT: If you have connections to The Pack or any of its many variations, you'll probably hear whispers of something very odd that occurred last week - according to the elders, it sounds as if the Earth Spirit, the magical and spiritual center of the planet, has suddenly taken a wound. It's not clear why or how, but there is a fair bit of concern among spiritual types, as it is werebeast belief and nebulous magical fact that the magical forces within the earth are the source of all magic here, as well as the source of life. While many werebeasts claim to have felt the Spirit succumb, you strangely have no memory of such an event occurring. Though things do feel strange, if you know how to tap into the Spirit yourself. ► THE WAR CRY: Though Anath's rain of terror across North America lasted for the first fifteen years or so of the Severing, most independent demons have had enough time to start taking the arch-demon's relative inactivity for granted. For that first while, the warrior queen had seemed determine to rebuild an army on earth by forcing her scattered brethren into service - only for her to gradually settle down in a fortress somewhere in Texas and dig in her heels. Of course, this was too good to last - it sounds as if she and her demonic legion have begun tearing their way up the west coast, their goals remaining a mystery. Their destination, however, is almost certainly Portland. |

'I've never heard of either of you.' [Doll tries to slide away again and he pulls her back to attention.] 'Curious that you're talking about this little issue-- Anath-- like you're actually able to do something. Or are you looking for an umbrella to stand under?'
no subject
My my, how presumptuous of you...and rude, as well? Have you never heard that there is power to be gained in information, 'sir'? Anath is moving-whether one can or cannot stand against what comes, well...
It would be foolishness to simply wait and squat at the side, hoping that she'll pass us by...
[Carly did not miss that jab he sent their way, and behind her current mask, she fights a small shudder. That.
May have been very unwise.]

'Speak plainly-- are you suggesting a trade, information for protection, or are you simply puffing out your chest and hoping I'll notice?'
no subject
Quite enough Carly... [He addresses Knotley.] As she claims, her intentions have nothing to do with you-but if you so insist, a trade could certainly be managed...~ [He hums, clearly doing well to avoid the barbs of even implying he would need protection or similar.]
no subject
'I'm not insisting anything. As far as I'm concerned, you are the one that needs me and my associates. Not the other way around. If you're passing through, pass through and don't make a mess. Anath is somebody else's concern, not mine.'
no subject
'You're telling me not to make a mess? What a joke,' Aslla replies coolly. 'I won't be the one cleaning up your smears...but it does feel very much like we've interrupted something, doesn't it, Carly?'
Carly, for her part, seems anxious about answering as well, merely swallowing. "...We'll be leaving! But-"
The shadow seems to rattle in warning, and Carly stiffens-before looking to Doll instead. "...Something really isn't right about what's going on! Make sure you remember that! ...Something big is coming, not just from demons!"
If shadows could roll their eyes, Aslla would be- as it is, he doesn't feel like he's getting anything from Knotley, and he'd like to be done with his charade as soon as possible.

Knotley curls his hand around Doll's shoulder, moving to escort her away from the encounter, but Doll doesn't move.
"What d'you mean, 'somethin' big not jus' from demons'?" she asks Carly.
'Doll, we're done here--' Knotley hisses.
"No!" Doll rolls away from his hand. "...I want t'hear what she thinks."
This seems to take him by surprise, and he doesn't seem particularly irate that Doll isn't falling into line. If anything, he's actually interested and realizes Doll makes a good point-- she seems to be more direct and less cagey. If anything, it'll probably annoy this blowhard that they're both listening to Carly instead of Aslla himself. So Knotley turns and fixes his eyes on Carly.
'You heard her.'

"...Right now there's not much-which is probably why he doesn't mind. But where Anath has passed through, there have been a lot of...disappearances. The kind where someone is probably more than missing," she continues, swallowing.
"...The kind where the victims are demons." Ah. "Something's happening-and her goal at the very least passes through here. But there's more going on too..! The angels seem to be getting in a bit of a fuss for some reason-I've seen lots of doves going around!" Ah, messages-
"The mage's community is locking down tight, with foreign visitors...and meanwhile the Fae seem to be starting up something..." ~Animal Fair~ But someone did kind of. Die. Last time. So.
"If it was just one group... ...well. The point is, we're stuck in the middle of something, so keep your eyes open, and your back protected, alright?"
WUGH, sorry for long pause, con stuff got real. D|
Knotley isn't about to discount it, though. His look is stony for the few moments where he's staring straight at Carly as though to pick her apart. He can't see any thread to pull that might unravel her information though, so he just takes Doll by her arm again.
'It sounds as though we'd both better get out of town, then. Come Doll.' She really doesn't have a choice, he's already dragging her back. As far as he's concerned, he was nice enough to listen to her suggestion, but now it's all about what he wants again. And this news of demons disappearing as Anath rolls through is nothing that makes him comfortable.
Ahhhhh that's a shame ;w; I think the thread's basically done now but I'm glad you tagged it back!
"...Good luck!"
No one wants to wish death on another at this point-except, maybe, demons at least.
