Un Colonies
Anyone capable of seeing mushi will be able to find small, glowing green snail shells that will disappear into a vanishing mist when provoked to move--or perhaps uncurl into a slug-like creature, on rare occasion. They do not attack, but it may be hard to convince them to move in the first place...
Un Infections
Ah Infections
Ah Infections
It was like...waves, chewing, swimming, bubbles, schools of fish swimming, some massive animal singing a haunting song, pots and pans, scraping, shuttling, scurrying, eating, gnawing--
"GAHHHH!"
Sherlock floated up, holding his head. So much noise, he couldn't think--what was going on!?
His fingers brushed against what felt like some hard protrusions on his forehead. What--oh come on, he had enough weird things to happen to him to last a lifetime and--
--he swam over to the nearest mirror. Every swish of his tail was enormously loud. He winced as he saw his reflection.
Horns!?
Honestly would this never end? Where did they come from? Was it because of the mermaid thing? But that didn't make any sense, they would have appeared with the original changes. He rubbed the one of them and the noise of even just that blared in his ear like there was a construction zone setting up in his eardrum.
Sherlock grimaced and pressed his hands against his head, the noise of the ocean was throbbing in his skull.
"Make it stop!"
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
In the end, Sora had to call off work early to go lay down, because the sensation of all this noise was just too much, and he longed for the relative quiet of his trailer to maybe make it go away.
He mercifully managed to doze off for a few hours, but when he awoke, it was worse. His head felt like it was going to burst, and putting his hands over his ears did next to nothing. Even worse, he seemed to have gotten a new transformation while he was asleep; four horns sticking out of his forehead. But they seemed... odd. Not like other transformations he'd seen.
Maybe he should go see Zecora.

Chiaki had loved turning into a mer at first. Even though it was harder to get around, there was something relaxing about the open ocean. And something elegant about her new form.
A day ago, she'd started hearing a buzzing in the water, but she'd just figured that everybody had heard it. In the middle of the night, she woke up to an absolute cacophony in her ears that made it impossible to go back to sleep. Every toss and turn of fellow carnival workers sleeping two or five trailers over, every piece of sand scraping against the bottom of the trailer, she heard it all. It was mind-numbing.
After just a few hours of not being able to stand it, with dawn breaking, she couldn't stand it anymore. So just before an hour that was reasonable, she swam to Tanyuu's and Ginko's trailer and knocked lightly on the trailer door with one fin. It was still loud enough to send echoes through her head.

Chiaki-san...?

Shhh...
[ Even that little sound from him and from her are as loud as a train in her ears. ]

Are you okay?

Everything's too loud. [ She barely says it, practically mouths it. Good thing his hearing is pretty good. ]
It hurts...
