[OPEN]
Who: Ginko and ANYONE
Where: Wherever animals are kept
When: Variable? Let’s say anytime in the week after Orientation (10/16-10/23)
What: Ginko tries to do his job, with “tries” being the operative word
Warnings: weird animals? Potentially bitey weird animals? To be added as necessary
A carnival can’t be fully experienced with just one sense. Just looking or listening isn’t enough; taking it all in requires much more than that. Of course, while smelling one’s surroundings might bring its own benefits in other parts of the carnival… well. Not so much here, unless you really like the smell of wet fur, animal waste, and lots of hay.
The menagerie is unlike any zoo that could be found in most worlds, if only for the sheer variety of animals kept there. The Ringmaster likes to pick up specimens from different worlds, the more unusual the better, and the end result is… well, not necessarily chaotic. But it’s definitely highly varied, and pretty strange.
Most hours of the day, anyone who happens to wander into the area, by accident or intentionally, is likely to run across Ginko at some point. He’s always been inclined to take his work seriously, and that certainly hasn’t changed since he started working here. The fact that he’s the only veteran keeper left after the recent mass exit doesn’t really help matters, either, and the end result is that he spends even more of his time in the menagerie than could be accounted for just by regular shifts.
Depending on when one comes by, he may just be mucking out the stalls - but a lucky visitor (or one who has the schedule memorized) may come by for feeding time, or in time to watch the process of grooming or exercising those animals that need it.
Closed to Bonnie
Ginko has to admit, after several weeks of trying to keep up with all these animals on his own, he's pretty glad to be getting help again... though he'd be happier about it if it weren't from a young child who clearly doesn't want to be here.
Unfortunately, there isn't a lot he can do about that but to try and make sure this is as good an experience for her as it can be - which means making sure she's as prepared as possible for the work ahead.
It's fairly early when it comes time for Bonnie's first work day, but not ridiculously so. Ginko's already fed those animals that need to eat early, and he's waiting at the edge of the menagerie when she arrives, cigarette in hand and elbows resting on the fence. He raises his free hand when she gets close, giving a small smile. "Hey. You ready to meet these guys?"
((OOC: Closed prompts might be added later! For open stuff, feel free to take a look at this (in-progress) spreadsheet to get an idea of what all animals there are! If you want to assume something is there but aren't sure you should, just message me.))

"Yeah. There are animals from all different planes of existence here; they're all pretty incredible."
no subject
Really, Gottlieb can only behave himself for so long. Right after he says it he braces himself for the reaction. There are many things he's oblivious to, but he's been rebuked often enough for his flirtatious tendencies that he knows sometimes they go very sour.
no subject
"Uh... thank you, I guess. But I'm not really anything special; I'm just trying to take care of these guys."
no subject
"Ah, you are too modest! I have seen the amount of labor you must take on everyday, sir. Not just anyone could carry on such back breaking tasks. Please, give yourself at least a modicum of well deserved credit."
He hops down from his seated position, walking up to the other with a warm smile on his face. It's really amazing how many handsome gents the Ringmaster has managed to gather in one place.
"My name is Gottlieb Albrecht, formerly of the Vienna Albrechts," he states while bowing deeply.
no subject
....Oh boy now there's bowing happening. Ginko shuffles uncomfortably, stuffing his hands in his pockets. He has... never been much good with formalities. But he can intoduce himself, anyway. "Nice to meet you. My name's Ginko."
...Aaand that's it. No titles or family names here. Whoops.

Unfortunately for Ginko, his actions only intrigue the vampire further, and he's going to move closer with a playful look on his face.
"Tell me, Gink-ko, have you ever been courted before?"
no subject
...This, though, he's definitely not expecting. He leans back, just a little, giving a startled twitch of his ears. "N...no? I don't think so. Never, uh. Been much of a concern."
JUST. IN CASE THIS IS GOING WHERE IT SEEMS TO BE.
no subject
"Your ears are so darling! Are they very sensitive?" he asks curiously, looking at them with awe.
no subject
He's going to get conversational whiplash here.
no subject
"Can I touch them?"
no subject
That's it. That's his only response to that.
no subject
"Because it would make me very happy?" he attempts, giving his sweetest and most innocent possible face.

It is very difficult for him to understand such a thing, being so inclined to affection. Yet, at the same time, he certainly doesn't want the other man to totally dislike him so respecting his wishes is a must.
no subject
"Um... anyway, was that all you wanted to say?"
no subject
"You're quite handsome, and I admire watching you work!"
It's said rather rapid fire, and maybe a touch apologetically.
no subject
"Uh..." Ginko breaks eye contact entirely and reaches up to rub at the back of his neck. "R-right. Or, uh, thanks, I guess-- I should... get back to work."
no subject
Yes, that is the very first question that comes to Gottlieb's mind. After all, the man didn't tell him to leave.
no subject
"Um. S-sure, I guess? Not like I can tell you where to be."
