[CLOSED] Sad Children Aren't Bad Children
Who: Bonnie & Psi
What: Bonnie can't sleep and is sad. Psi attempts to dad.
Where: Psi's Trailer
When: Nighttime - Backdated to before Event
Warnings: N/A
It doesn't take a physic to figure out that Psi's new roommate is, well, rather unhappy with her current situation. Sure, it's not like Bonnie isn't grateful for the offer she was given to stay with the candy corn horned troll, but that doesn't make accepting everything any easier. The little bed she's been given is comfortable and she has enough blankets to keep warm, but it's hard to sleep. Dedenne's beside her - he always is - but he's not her brother. Trying to think of it as an extended sleepover doesn't work too well either. She had Serena then to keep her company and it wasn't like Clemont would be away from her for too long. This wouldn't be like then, though. A year was still, in her mind, unfathomable.
She tries to be quiet and not cry, tries to be a big girl and remind herself that it's not going to be forever...but it's hard. She's jealous of Dedenne, who has no trouble falling asleep, despite his concerns for his owner. If only she could be like him - at least she could get through the night easier that way. Maybe a drink of water would be good to have. Wiping her eyes with the edge of one of the blankets given to her she slips from her bed, quietly shuffling through the trailer toward the kitchenette. Puffy eyes do their best to guide her through the dimly lit trailer until she reaches the sink. There's a cupboard off to the side with its door ajar enough that a few cups can be seen inside. The only problem is that it's hanging above her, just out of reach, despite her best attempts to get at it on her tiptoes. Not one to be deterred she decides to try and climb atop the counter to reach it, knocking a few knicknacks off the surface in the process.
"Ah...oops."
No Psi, it's not your cat knocking over things. It's the little human girl you've decided to take under your wing.

"Ah...oops."
No Psi, it's not your cat knocking over things. It's the little human girl you've decided to take under your wing.

That's not it, of course. She's slept in far less comfortable situations before. The problem ultimately returns to the fact she's lonely without Clemont or someone else to sleep with.
"I don't want to be alone...I miss my brother."
no subject
"There are people back home I miss too."
When you were missing someone there really wasn't anything to do. You just had to hope you could forget about the pain of it for a bit, or hope that it grew less in time. The Psiioniic couldn't do anything about the time, but he might be able to serve as a good distraction.
"Do you want to help me feed Disciple?"
no subject
"What does Disciple eat?"
no subject
"Take one scoop from this bag," Psi starts handing the kibble over to Bonnie, "And put it in this bowl."
He motions to one on of the silver bowls on the floor behind Bonnie.
"Then you can fill the other one with fresh water."
no subject
She knows Psi is trying his best. Really, she does. This is probably just as strange to get used to as it is for her. Sure, he might've been part of the carnival for awhile, but that doesn't mean he was used to living with little girls. Little girls could be difficult - Bonnie's self aware enough to realize this. Who knows? Maybe human girls were even more effort than troll girls?
It's not the best distraction but it's easier to focus on the fluffy cat than it is her own insecurities. It's easier to take care of others than herself. Before doing anything else Bonnie takes it upon herself to switch on a light. Only then does she scoop kibble out of the bag and dump it into one of the silver bowls. The other bowl she moves to fill with water, careful not to spill it everywhere when she sets it down beside its pair.
"What's the food made of?" It looked similar to what some Pokemon were fed...maybe Dedenne would like it?
no subject
"Um.. I guess chicken, carrots, rice? That kind of stuff." he really never thought about what was in the food. It was food for cats, Disciple was a cat. There wasn't really much more to his thought process than that. He looked up to Bonnie. She was a young human girl, she came from a totally different world than he did, she had a totally different life than he did. It went without saying really.
He sighed, sitting on the floor and resting his head against the cabinets. He'd sort of been expecting her to take care of herself, but that wasn't how it worked for humans, was it? Still, she'd done okay so far, she'd gotten to get her own water, she took care of her own pet. Just because you could do something though, didn't mean you should.
"Trolls don't have families like humans do. We usually live by ourselves... So if there's something you need I might not be able to tell right away. Don't hesitate to tell me things, okay?"
It was a lot to ask of a kid her age, she couldn't have been more than 5 sweeps. Still, when in doubt it was best to be totally honest, that's what he'd been taught at least. He looks over to Bonnie.
"You said you can't sleep alone, so, do you want to share with me?"
no subject
It's not a direct question, rather more of a mutter to herself as she watches Psi make himself comfortable on the floor. Absentmindedly she leans down to pet Disciple as she listens to Psi quietly. So Psi was used to living by himself then, huh? Still though, wasn't that lonely? She can't imagine not having a family or how terrible that would be. Being apart from Clemont is awful enough as it is - not having any family period sounds utterly terrifying. She's making a face at the thought of it but nods when he tells her to tell him if she needs something. It's the least she can do if he's being nice enough to let her stay with him.
The next offer has her pausing for a moment but it doesn't take her long to answer. It might be shameless what she does next, leaving her water and spot across from him only to plop herself down in his lap for a bit of a sideways hug, legs sprawled out from the side of her. Her cheek makes contact with his chest, squishing her face a bit in the process.
"U-Uh huh."
Psi might look 'scary' to others - her brother would probably be frightened of him - but she's not scared of his appearance or how 'inhuman' he might seem from first glance. He's been nothing but kind to her and she's desperate for someone to take care of her, especially right now, tired and homesick.
no subject
"Okay. Do you need anything specific to get to sleep?"
no subject
"I need to get Dedenne so he's not alone either."
no subject
"Is Dedenne in here?"
no subject
"Uh huh. He's in my pochette near my pillow."
no subject
"Good thing he's tiny, otherwise there might not be enough room for all three of us."
no subject
"We're both tiny. That's pretty lucky."
no subject
Is Dedenne still asleep right now? He is a deep sleeper.
"If you can't sleep that's fine too. I stay up pretty late most of the time anyway. We can play games or basically do whatever until you get tired enough to fall asleep!"
no subject
That thought makes her squeeze tighter, just a bit.
"Can you tell me a story?"
no subject
"A story?" he knew a few, there were more than a few troll fairy tales, but he never cared for them really. Of course every lowblood had one story or another about a highblood getting their comeuppance, but something like that wouldn't really make sense to a human. He knew plenty of ghost stories, but maybe Bonnie scared easily? So that was also out.
"A story..." He wanted to tell her something happy, not scary or sad so stories about his own life were probably out. The Disciple had always been the storyteller of their group, maybe something she would say.
"Well, I guess I can, but it might not be very good. What kind of stories do you like?"
