⇨ The Tourist Trap: PROLOGUE

Who: Anyone, anywhere in Portland.
When: Any time before the start of the event.
Where: Portland area, in the new reality.
What: Once you've submitted your AU summary, you can use this post to do some CLOSED THREADING to play out some character interactions that happened before the event start. This means that memory regains will not be in play yet. Open top levels are not allowed - these threads are intended to sort out closed interactions between planned backstory connections, during the week leading up to the actual event start.
Warnings: Could be anything.

PORTLAND, AS YOU KNEW IT

The shift went unseen and unfelt. One moment you were one person, and the next, another. This before all that, though, in the new life that you remember living here in Portland. No memories of your true self have arisen yet, and at the time this was the only life you knew. Did these events truly happen at all? Or do they only exist in memory?

Pearl waits. She isn't a fan of waiting or maybe it's more she isn't a fan of waiting with him. She knows her Queen must have a reason for pairing the two of them up for this mission. Pearl has worked with others before -- but honestly now the Queen is just messing with her.

She frowns, "I was human before you know. It may have been awhile, but banks aren't exactly a new concept." Pearl isn't sure if he has completed the scoping out of the place yet. Luckily, the streets are still clear and none of the warning charms she set up have activated. "Is it there or not?" The sooner she can be done with this, the better.

Another breath, before he opens his eyes. "Yeah, they've got it. Someplace dark and stale. Long way from any other plants..." He chews his cheek, flexing the fingers in his hand. "There was something in the air around it, too, something magic. Gotta be their security."

He glances at Pearl sidelong. "Better to avoid using magic long as possible in there, or we'll set something off. You're a little rusty at this, I can lead you through it."

She sighs. "Perhaps. But if you can sense some kind of magic in there it's more than likely we'll need to utilize some before this night is over." She looks over her shoulder, fingering a gemstone hanging from her neck--one of her infamous charms no doubt. She rubs at it and then adds, "This would be a lot easier if I could use a glamour...but if spell-casting is going to call attention we'll have to do this the old fashion way."

Pearl lets the charm drop and reaches into a pocket, pulling out a thin, black case. She smirks at Greg, "I'm not as rusty as you seem to think. Do you know how to pick a lock without using your little plants?" Hmm, she hadn't broken in somewhere in a long time, at least without the use of her magic. This was actually going to be pretty exciting.

Greg's grin widens a little. He can tease Pearl all day, but she always pulls out some pretty cool tricks in the clutch. "Welllll, I was ready to use these guns," he flexes, "but better not to set off those alarms either." He mimes holstering his guns, though it's a little awkward to convey sitting down. It would have looked great, though, trust him. Would've thrown back his jacket and shown all the cool seed packets and stuff he's stashing for ammo. Way cool.

"Seriously though. I'll watch your back, just..." He blows out a breath, and shakes his head. He's dressed a bit closer to respectable than usual, just to avoid standing out too much. His hair ruins the effect a little, but it is what it is. "I can handle it if things get dicey. Let's just focus on keeping our heads down 'til we're at the target."

She tries to not roll her eyes, she really does. But he just has to do things like that and so there goes the eye roll. She can't believe the Rose Queen thinks this idiot can be of any use. But, she does suppose he has potential, given his affinity for nature. She pockets the black case and moves to get out of the car. "True--we have no idea what security inside will be like either. I can probably distract them if you can take that time to find the security we'll need to avoid."

Her glamors would probably do the trick, unless this bank also employed fae, though if they were low level enough she could likely trick them as well. Pearl may not be the strongest, but she had a few tricks that kept her in the Rose Queen's service.
