[your best friend] intensifies (open)
Who: Flowey and YOU!
When: B1: D1-6!
Where: Outside of his festive Children's Entertainment Booth!
What: Just you and Flowey, meeting each other and making friends!
Warnings: Flowey is (SPOILER) not nice.
[ Back here, after signing his contract, Flowey’s gone and raided the performer’s storage (which he had to burrow to find over and over again). He’s made dozens of balloon animals. Perhaps in one of his years resetting, he did it to stave off boredom. How he does it with no arms, absolutely no one can guess. “HOWDY! - flowey” Is written on each and every indistinguishable bipedal animal that could resemble an annoying dog and he’s handing them out with a happy greeting! ]
“Howdy! You’re not the ugliest person on the planet, but you better hope he doesn’t die! Nice to meet you!”
“Howdy! You look like a mistake only the chaos of the universe could make, pleased to make your acquaintance!”
“Howdy! You’re kind of like Rapunzel, but instead of letting your hair down, you’re letting everyone down in your life! It’s so good to make new friends!”
“Howdy! I’m Flowey. Flowey the Flower! I’m an experiment gone wrong and I’m still less of a mistake than you! Have a nice day, happy to finally say hello!”
[ Do you… come up and get your custom insult?
Or do you defend the honor of someone he just insulted? ]

[ He sighs, aggravatedly. ] I don't have any good ones back yet, you're right.
[ The more good ones he gets, the more Asriel will come through! That can only be a good thing. But at the same time, being yourself and becoming another person is a little nerve-wracking... he'll cringe looking back on himself for eternity. ]
So I don't know. Maybe it'll take years and I'll have to keep renewing my contract.
no subject
[He puts a moment's thought to wondering who was asking something like... that. Maybe... one of the people rescued from the Prince? The super longterm captives, who'd been sad and sick and stuck for so long, they no longer remembered anything else? But their identity isn't important right now.]
Well, I'm sure we can engineer something. Alphys is here. We can ask her for recommendations on... contrived, yet sincere, positive experiences?
[Maybe they could even get some of her dumb video games here. Have a slumber party in someone's trailer, playing them.]
It might be uncomfortable for you... But, it's fine if you stay for years. Better, even! I'm staying for years, and so is Sans, and Alphys too? Nobody should go home right now, the human's trapping everybody in a murderous time loop.
[Guess who's in the info, now. Papyrus smiles, he doesn't know - or doesn't mind - that Flowey'd been responsible for the time loops before.]
no subject
[ He immediately insists, having just spoken with her. ]
The more Alphys doesn't know about my regaining feelings, the better. Trust me. If I could make her cry just by bringing up something simple compared to what she went through--
[ Ugh, being too honest is really really annoying! It's only playing into his few feelings now. ]
I'll just-- I'll just stay until they all come back.
no subject
[Which throws out plans involving her intel... at least, the ones involving her consultation.]
Still, I can ask for those games for myself, and we can figure out ideas without her! You're my friend, and I want you to be happy.
[It's strange, that Flowey says he doesn't feel anything... but right now he seems so dismayed, and concerned, and worried for Alphys. Can that really all be pretending? That's impressive enough... that Papyrus could learn a few things from him! A mutual exchange of learning, truly the foundation of friendship.]
And I think doesn't count unless you can feel happy too.
1/2
Probably one of those amalgamates he absorbed left a bit of soul dust in him, and Flowey's burning it on this conversation.
Wait, no. He feels... what is it? It doesn't have a name in English. ]
no subject
S- stop it. It hurts. Go get your brother and have him cave my head in! Weed me or something! It hurts!
no subject
[Papyrus steps back, genuinely alarmed by this reaction. The last time he made anyone cry was... well, actually, it was probably sometime last night, but that didn't count.]
Oh no! Don't cry, it's okay, I can... Stop... being nice??
[Thus begins an absurd attempt to be not-nice, but so utterly out of the intent to continue being nice that it... well.]
Uh, your petals are too yellow!?
no subject
I just remembered how mean I was to you...
[ Can flowers sniff? A philisophical question. ]
Heh... that does sound like something you'd say to try and insult someone...
no subject
[That sounds like something he would do, especially during his time as a sentry. Hoping for approval, waiting for it, and eager to share enthusiasm and friendship... But it's strange, not remembering.]
It stands to reason, I hardly insult anybody...! But, if I made a fanclub for you, shouldn't I take the time to appreciate your insults?
[If a flower smells itself in the forest, does it notice a scent?]
no subject
[ Because he remembers, like anyone can remember grief but not feel it as strongly, that when Frisk saved Papyrus, everything came rushing back about all the good he'd done. Feeling Papyrus be saved was both jubilant and heartbreaking, he remembers even if he can't feel it. ]
I could have just waited until Frisk fell down.
Then, I wouldn't remember all these timelines.
no subject
Does it hurt? It seems to hurt Sans, so I stopped asking him about it... but it's still all in there.
[Usually. Not, the last few days, with how his brother could hardly remember anything, but... he'd been so obviously hurting, and worse, that the memories are definitely a better kind of hurting. Not that they seem to be doing anybody any particular good, but... it's their pain to decide what to do with.]
no subject
[ He goes quiet after that, hypocritically saying that after 'you don't deserve to be insulted.' Does Flowey know Sans is here? If so, he'd almost welcome the brutality, were it not for the pieces of Asriel coming together. He should tell him... but he doesn't know how. Sans would be easier, right? Sans and Alphys probably know the story about the prince. ]
But... I don't understand what I'm supposed to say....
no subject
[He scratches at the side of his skull, then nods a single, decisive nod. The sort of very visible, telegraphed nod, bolstering his own decisiveness.]
And even if I was hurt... I'm sure I would still be nice. Whatever you did before, you're already trying not to be mean. You just were, and then you stopped yourself! That's a lot. More than enough for me. If you want to say more, you can, but don't feel pressured to make anything up to me... unless you want to!
no subject
I think I'd have to talk to your brother first, if he's here. He, uh... he saw a lot of what I did.
[ And therefore, would know to tell Papyrus not to ask anything about what happened and tell him about what Flowey truly was. The way Papyrus deserved to hear, because Flowey is still a manipulative jerk and scared child rolled up in one and prone to lying about how much damage he did. Like he'd receive a scolding or a blast to the face. ]
no subject
[Ah, yes, Sans. Sans does remember that stuff. And he tends to withhold it or lie to Papyrus about things that are painful to either one of them. Time will tell whether he's changing that habit, but given their lives so far, making him the gatekeeper of information doesn't feel great.]
He is here. Alive, and... around. [Papyrus grimaces and rubs at his neck, hesitating for a second.]
And he might not be as, as welcoming of company as I am. Some things happened, lately. Murdery things, and worse, and... he does remember all that stuff, and probably holds it against you a little more.
no subject
...
But he's your big brother, and you can't hide me in your trailer. He has to find out about me soon, and somehow, I don't think he'll take well to it if we put it off. He'll think I manipulated you into saying nothing, or worse...
Besides, I have something to tell him. Something that will-- might-- make him put the lasers down.
no subject
[Which is a real shame, sometimes. It'd be funny to pull off a secret roommate, if not for the... extenuating situation.]
I hope you're right! But I should warn you, the 'lasers' are dogs now, they'll have to decide for themselves.
no subject
[ He might get a new emotion out of this, too! Like horror, or 'fear of death' or 'bad time.' You can't complain about that, can you? ]
Could you tell him to meet me? Tell him I... have something important to say about Toriel and Alphys' experiments. You can stay there and intervene if needed. You should probably hear it too.
no subject
I could... give him on a call, on the radio! Right here. [He demonstratively pats at the radio on his waist, and pulls it off while he asks,] Don't you have one yet?
[Those emotions are fair game for complaining about; the goal right now is to get some positives, and help bolster Flowey's resolve! How can he go through this without determination?]
no subject
Make the call, okay? I'll wait outside in case he's not in a good mood.
[ He clips through the ground to wait outside. ]
no subject
This is gonna go super well, with just a couple obstacles to dodge, and then everybody can be friends.]
