Fever in the Morning ++ OPEN

Who: Doll and you!
When: S2:D11-D22
Where: Around the carnival
What: Where has Doll been while all this Harbinger/Guardian craziness has been happening? Bedridden at the carnival. Which one of you passed her the mono, hmm?
Warnings: Sniffles, adorable sick thing, potentially contagious.

[Uh, Medic? - Backdated S2:D11]

[Sometime soon after Performance Week, Doll starts looking a little pale and feeling a little off. Of course it's probably nothing-- she's tired, she's been working on new routines, not sleeping as well as she did in a comfy bed on the moon. There are so many reasons she could be feeling off.]

[After her last performance, she sets to cleaning and organizing the makeup in the dressing areas. She finds herself trying to hurry because she's so tired that she just wants to get back to her trailer and go to sleep. Maybe she pushed herself too hard on the rope tonight, because she's never felt this warm after a performance. She's never had double vision after a performance either. Forget the makeup, she needs some air.]

[Doll wobbles outside and tries to sit on one of the nearby storage crates-- but misses and falls over. It's a short trip to the ground and she's not hurt, but wow she's dizzy and her limbs feel like solid weights. Is somebody going to find her like this?]

[Should be in Bed]

[Once Doll realized she was sick and wouldn't be able to hang around Wismuth as much as she'd like, she'd dutifully retired to bed in her and Joker's trailer. And for the most part, she's got everything she needs in there-- except for food. Wrapped in a blanket and determined to be at least a little self-sufficient, Doll shuffles across the grounds heading for the mess hall. It's slow going and she's not exactly keeping a low profile here, but how else is she supposed to get fed?]

[WHAT'S Going on Over There?!]

[Is there some ruckus made after something's gone south in Wismuth? Doll's regular sleep cycle is all kinds of ridiculous from doing nothing but sleeping, so anytime of the day or night if there's somebody making noise outside her curiosity will get the best of her. She'll wrap herself in her trusty blanket, put on her slippers and shuffle out of the trailer to see what's going on.]

Oi-- [And she coughs, her throat not used to doing much talking yet.] What's goin' on?

((OOC Note: The last two prompts can happen any old time, she's kicking around the carnival while plot things happen, feel free to date any interaction whenever! :3b))

Yes. If it would serve to help you with your aches I can easily carry you there. [He also cannot get sick easily and she looked like she could use a bit of help.]

After you eat, that is. Your soup is going to get cold because you're worrying about little old me. [She's done though and he'll flex his fingertips lightly. He knows he'll end up opening it again eventually but it'll do for now.] Thanks.

[And then with careful and slow words he begins to recite the names he has heard:] Papyrus, Amethyst, Mari, Steven, Shima, Lapis, Carly, Childermass, Herbert, Yuugo, Lavellan, Taako, Tanyuu, and Connie.

Soup? [She perks up a little-- apparently she hadn't realized Tyki had brought anything in with him, she was so out of it.]

[For the most part, she doesn't recognize a lot of the names except for ones she's heard in passing-- except for Carly and Tanyuu. Those get her attention and her face falls.] Oh no... Ginko must be beside himself, is Joker with him?

[He's taking his hand back and flexing it again just to get the bandages to move properly around his fingers and palm. He can't be off his guard and he has to be use to it when he goes back out later into Wismuth.

He gently takes the plate with the bowl on top and holds it out for her to take along with the spoon. Once she takes it he'll offer her the spoon.] A light chicken noodle with small bits of noodles so it is not so raw on your throat.

When isn't he with Joker? [Said a little too teasingly to be casual.]

You're welcome! [ And so, Strange goes back to his trailer to pick up an assortment of booze.

It's ten or so minutes later before Strange returns—and he's actually using the door for once. Awkwardly, Strange opens up the door to Doll's trailer. He's carrying a tray. On the tray is a bottle of brandy, a bottle of wine, and three glasses. The brandy and wine have already been warmed up but Mr. OP Magic User over here can take care of that if things get cold. ]

Miss Doll? [ Strange asks, looking around the trailer to see if he can spot her anywhere. ]

I can do that.

[He's getting pretty close to the trailer now, which is good, because Doll feels awfully warm in his arms. He's getting worried about her, but at least she's lucid enough to talk to him.]

It'll be a lot of fun.

[Doll grins and holds out her hands for the soup, settling it securely in her lap before reaching for the spoon.] Yer the best Tyki, thank you! [She smiles warmly and starts eating slowly.]

Oh? [Doll smirks a little to herself.] Somethin' happen? [She's saying that far too innocently for it to be a simple question.]

[And Tamaki feels wonderfully cool against her feverish skin, even if she's starting to sweat a little. She keeps on grinning up at him, letting her head loll against his chest, looking like he's the greatest thing in the world.]

Hey c'n. After here, c'n Joker 'n I come with you?

[She's in there alright-- in the middle of a sick explosion. There are empty mugs around her which presumably held tea at one point, some empty bowls, kleenex (what a marvel, paper handkerchiefs!), and at the center of the explosion is Doll wrapped in blankets.]

Hello again Mister Strange. [She sits up with a bright, if not a little hazy, smile. She's pulled over a chair for him, at least.] I'd offer ya somethin' but... don't have much on hand at the moment.

With Pleasure. [Comes his usual response and he'll stay seated there in a squat in front of her like a good caretaker. He likes to stay on someone's level if he cares for them at least not to seem so daunting or save their neck from having to look up.

He snorts at her inquiry.] Wouldn't you like to know, little princess. Eat up.

Mean. [She puffs out her cheeks and pouts at him, but keeps on eating anyway.] Someone stayin' around you, then? [If he's not going to talk about Joker or Ginko, she'll just talk about him.]

You're sick, [ Strange points out as if it's the most obvious thing in the world. ] It's your job to get better.

[ And so, he sits down on the chair and offers her a glass of warm brandy. The drink is more of a hot toddy than straight up brandy: diluted somewhat, with spices and honey mixed in. And if that doesn't work, well, he's got the rest of the bottle of brandy, just shove that down Doll's throat until she passes out. ]

There you go. Now, drink up!

Oh, hush. I already let you tend to my wound and if I keep talking you won't eat. [Besides there was time for that later.] They're just always so close.

You mean by safety in numbers? Zangetsu is closeby and has been. He was just a little too far out when I got cut. [Cut, he says.]

Right? [She says this with a mouth full of soup and spoon. At least she swallows before continuing.] Ginko tried ta tell me that he 'n Joker were jus' friends, an' Joker told me Ginko 'n Mister Psi were an item, but I won' believe nothin's goin' on. I ain' all the way blind.

[...oh. That. Was a little too much sharing.]

Good. 'M glad ya got somebody watchin' over ya, even if they're not stuck ta yer hip.

Still-- don' want ya ta think Joker didn' give me no manners. [And Doll will give and give and give until there's nothing left for her to give. It's no wonder she wants to get better if she wants to help him pick up his books and host a proper visit.]

[She takes the glass carefully, slowly bringing it to her lips so she doesn't spill any of it. The first sniff of it has her nose wrinkling a little, but the spices make it smell very appealing. So she starts sipping.]

[Wow, this is... delicious. And it feels good going down.] How come tea doesn't work like this, all the warmth is-- [She gestures to her throat to indicate it's just staying there and soothing everything.]

[ Strange watches as Doll tentatively sniffs the glass, drinks some, then stares at the glass in slight confusion. And he can't help but grin at it. Her expression is a bit amusing. Doll's old enough, surely she's had a drink like this before, hadn't she? ]

I think it's the alcohol, [ Strange explains, with a little laugh. ] Either that or the honey. Though, I suppose the honey all depends on how you take your tea in the first place!

[ So it's probably the alcohol. ]

[Blink, blink.] Wait, wait. You mean they're not together?! I could've sworn the way they were acting in the hot spa back on the moon that they were at least fooling around on the sidelines.

[No, it was the right amount of sharing and now even Tyki looks confused.] He has things to take care of and we're never that far apart.

[That look she's giving him sets his heart to pounding. He can't really get the door open while he's holding her so he phases them both straight through it, carrying her to a bed.]

Huh? You mean after Wismuth?

[He's a bit thick. Doll will have to spell it out for him.]

The hot spa on the moon?! [Dolls crawls up on her knees, anguished. She missed it?!] It was happenin' before th'Prince even! Ugh! [She flops back down again, frowning deeply.] 'N Joker thinks he's so smug tellin' me that Ginko's jus' a friend and likes somebody else...

[Doll brightens up though.] Exactly! Stuff happens real quick 'round here. S' nice ta have somebody who ain't that far away. Like you!

[She giggles a little, thrilled as they go through the wall. She even makes a little 'whoosh' noise as they do.]

Naw, like... like after our time's up here. At the carnival.

'S a lot nicer than the stuff on the moon though! Maybe it is the honey... [Doll shrugs and drinks a bit more, sighing happily as it goes down...]

[And she just keeps right on drinking until the cup is empty, and she is quite happy.]

Who came up with this anyway? Who thought 'Guess I'll put some alcohol in tea'?

When we were all getting Cured and needed to drink and soak. Ginko was there to look after us. Him mostly. [Because after a while Tyki sank into that mess and disappeared. It was really Herbert that got him out and Childermass mostly that tended to his drunk ass all night.

He points to her soup to make sure she's eating and talking somewhat at the same time.] Well, there is the possibility that is the case. If they feel anything for each other it would be your hypocritical brother and ginko that would probably not even see it. [Which kind of makes sense now that he thinks about it. Lots of things Tyki says goes right over Ginko's head, or seems to.] I try.

[ Most people would be wary about giving a teenager alcohol. Strange is not most people. As Doll chugs down the drink, he sits and smiles, downright pleased with himself.

At her question, he shrugs. ]

I've no idea. All I know is that they must have been very smart! [ it's half teasing, half serious. ] Back home, I'll drink something like this whenever I get a cold.

[She pouts-- they're in the middle of gossiping!-- but puts another spoonful in her mouth to appease Tyki.]

Yer not th'only one. [Doll frowns more deeply.] I'd feel better 'bout Joker cuttin' me outta all that goes on if... If I jus' knew somebody would take care 'a him like I would.

[He doesn't care if she talks with her mouthful or not though soup would make a mess of things.]

Well, from a man that knows a lot about pleasure, relationships, acquaintances, and family. I can tell you that as long as Ginko is here, there isn't anything Joker can really get away with unless he just runs off on his own. Can't help those that don't want to be helped either.

Oh. [Tamaki lays her down, then his eyes widen as the implications catch up to him.] You mean, you want to come to Tokyo!?

[He doesn't sound like he thinks it's a bad idea; in fact, he sounds like he thinks it's a great idea. From what he knows of their life from Doll and Joker, it sounds pretty rough back in their world. But Tokyo would be much kinder to them, he's sure. Sure, they'd be foreigners, but it's not like anyone would try to hurt them. And they'd have Tamaki, and Nagi would be able to help too. And the others would love her, he's absolutely sure of that.]

You can come. [He grabs her hand.] If Rini-san will let you, you can come.
