well, i think i see another side, maybe [OPEN]
Who: June and YOU!
When: Day 28
Where: the trailer park, the medical tent, Around
What: Mom has arrived! Come say hello. Maybe bring one of those molded jello trays. Everyone loves those.
The last thing June was expecting when wandering into a carnival she hadn’t heard was coming to town was to get tricked into some kind of arcane contract by a mysterious being, but then, last week she’d been kidnapped in the trunk of a transforming alien sports car, so these days, she doesn’t really know what to expect. She is pretty annoyed about the part where she’d been manipulated into it, and if it weren’t for the promise that she’d be returned home afterward...well, she doesn’t know how solid that guarantee really is, but she doesn’t have much choice but to trust the Ringmaster right now. It’s not that June is opposed to a little adventure now and then, but she has responsibilities. Jack doesn’t exactly have a dad anymore, and while the Autobots have proven to be dedicated guardians, he still needs his mother. That’s what June’s telling herself, and it’s true — but if she were honest, the prospect of going an entire year without seeing her only son is...a little bit of a difficult one.
She’ll make do while she’s here, though, and they’re apparently in need of medical staff, and that’s something she can do. As long as she’s able to help people, keep busy, she’ll be alright. She hopes the people around here are at least a little less...eccentric than the Ringmaster seems to be.
backyard
June is doing her best to settle into her trailer — she doesn’t have much with her, but she’s trying to at least make it feel cozy. Mostly so far it feels more...dorm-y, which simultaneously makes her feel both younger and older than her actual age. Hopefully in the near future she'll have more of a chance to collect some decor, plant some flowers, make this place feel a little more homey -- but for now, it'll do. Well, the mailbox is a little crooked, but she can fix that.
"Home sweet home," she sighs wryly, righting the mailbox and stepping back to have a look at her trailer, just to take it all in. It's a lot to take in. After a moment, the mailbox lists to the side again with a squeak.
Ah, well.
medical tent
Seeing as this is where she'll be working, June might as well familiarize herself with the medical facilities. Well...what facilities they have to speak of, anyway. She wasn't exactly expecting a fully-outfitted emergency ward, but she was sort of envisioning something more than...a tent. Well, she'll make do -- she always does, and she's got enough experience to make up for it.
She hasn't met the doctor yet -- West, she's pretty sure his name is -- but she's glad there is a doctor on staff, at least. (Later, when she finally meets him, she will retract that statement.) He's got a little office partitioned off in here, and while June is ordinarily the 'respect other people's privacy' type, she is definitely having a little look around, just to see what they've got to work with.
June hasn't met any of the other staff yet either, and she isn't exactly set up to work, but hey, she's still in her scrubs, and if anyone comes in needing treatment, she'll do her best to help them.

He spreads his wings and hops to the ground, then starts the new person's way at an unhurried walk, fluffing out the feathers on his head and neck. This body doesn't have facial expressions, though the curve of his beak suggests a constant, faint Mona Lisa smile. Puffing out certain feathers is its closest equivalent to a smile.
"Hello!" Puffing out certain feathers, and speaking with warm inflections in his voice, which is almost completely human. Maybe a little too rich, and certain syllables that usually require lips sound slightly off. "Are you new? I'm Julien Delacroix, I live back over there."
no subject
"Oh, you -- talk!" June says, startled, and then realizes just how rude that sounds. "I mean -- I'm sorry, you just surprised me a little. I am new, and I'm sure it's obvious. I'm June Darby. It's nice to meet you, Julien."
no subject
"It's not a problem! There's a lot of weird stuff here, it takes us all by surprise at first. Thank you, Ms. Darby." He shifts his weight to stand on one leg, and is able to raise the foot of the other to around waist height. There's a handlike aspect to the toes and their arrangement, but sparkly pink stone scales are all down the backs, from ankle to claw, and the scales on the walking surface are coarse and look harsh. "Want to shake hands? Or fist bump, or wave, whatever."
He does kind of like seeing if people will boggle and freeze up meeting him. Looking like this, it's been in his best interests to be amused by peoples' reactions. Where he's from they're inescapable. "What job have you ended up landing, if you don't mind me asking?"
no subject
"You can just call me June," she says, smiling a little, and with a little huff of a laugh she holds her hand out for a handshake. Now that the strangeness of a talking bird is wearing off, she's not feeling so intimidated. "Nurse -- which I suppose is a good thing, because that's what I do at home. This is a fair bit tamer than an emergency room, though."

But it's a bit odd. After all, he definitely wasn't there before. It's almost like he appeared out of nowhere.
There's a long awkward pause as Cole looks over at June. "You're new." No shit, Cole. He continues to downright stare at June, looking at her with a small little frown.
no subject
"I am, yes. I'm June. What happened?" The staring is...a little odd, but so is everything else around here. She crouches to pick up the fallen roll of bandages and winds it back up, stepping in closer to Cole. She holds out her hands, an offer to help. She'd really like to get a better look at what it is he's covering up.
no subject
She wants to help. So Cole's going to let her. Even though he knows June is new, how much help could she be. Cole shows her his unbandaged hand. Despite the fact that he said nothing happened, something did happen (or at least, is happening). One of the lines on the palm of his hand looks odd. The skin is raised slightly around it and the line itself is deeper, as if he was cut there. Despite that weirdness, it doesn't look like a scar, a wound, or anything of that sort.
And Cole doesn't seem to be bothered by them. He's looking down at his hands with a little frown, as if this is annoying, yet kind of normal.

And speaking of "whatever doctor works there", here he is. Yukio was on a short lunch break, but now he's back. Admittedly, June might not realize the teenage boy walking through the tent flap is one of her coworkers at first, but when he sees her his slightly distracted air shifts to a professional smile.
"Hello, can I help you?"
Compared to lots of people in the Carnival, Yukio looks... almost normal. His smile has a few more fangs than a normal human's would, and the skin around his eyes is marked with a blue, iridescent pattern like a flame-shaped birthmark.

"I hope so. I'm supposed to be working here starting today, but I haven't met the resident doctor yet -- or any of the staff, for that matter." She extends a hand; it's honestly hard to tell who works where around here, and she might as well be friendly anyway. "I'm June, by the way. And...new, if it isn't too painfully obvious."

He gestures towards the desk in the corner. "I specialize in herbal-based medicine and battlefield medical techniques, but I know Doctor West has more experience with pharmaceuticals."

This one is new, she had to be. As far as Shura could tell, older women on the grounds were few and far between, and this lady looked like someone's mom. Maybe she was. Either way, it's worth calling out to her as she passes by, catching the sad squeak of the mailbox.
"Heh. Y'know, you can prolly get someone else to that for ya." In the light of day, it's hard to see the way her eyes glow. The too-small bikini and daisy dukes are much harder to miss.
no subject
"Oh? That'd probably help." She frowns at the stubbornly crooked mailbox. "Who does the home repairs around here? I mean -- how do I get in touch with them?"
no subject
"'Course, if you knock the whole door down like that, you might get something better to replace it. Or they could just let you enjoy the breeze. It's kinda a crapshoot."

"Oh, that's a shame," Says the woman who looks mostly normal except for the hooves and ram horns. "But I'm sure one of the repairfolk would be happy to take a look at it for you!"

"I suppose I'd be better off leaving it to someone else. I'm just so used to fixing things around the house myself." She extends a hand. "I'm June, by the way. I guess we're neighbors now?"

She offers a friendly smile as she ducks out of the tent, waving back. "Oh, hello. Can I help you with something?"

He sounds quite relieved about that.

"What's up, newbie? I'm Jinx." Don't mind her, she's just gonna be extremely casual right off the bat. And compared to anyone else she might've seen already, Jinx looks pretty normal.
Well, the yellow eyes were already natural.

Both of her hands go behind her hand, looking pretty relaxed.

It definitely looks like one. June hasn't been in college in a long time, but some things just never change. She opens the door, not sure if she should be expecting anyone, but she definitely wasn't expecting anyone asleep in the middle of the trailer.
Also, a lizard?
"Hello?" June calls, as though she doesn't actually see anyone, because it seems politer than poking Alphys awake, and she has zero idea of what to expect.
no subject
"Uh! Um!" Alphys stutters, untangling herself from the blanket. "Hi? D-do I know you?"
