⇨ SPACE FIGHT

Who: Carnival members, athletes, and aliens.
When: Forward-dated to Day 44
Where: The carnival, Zargon, and Olympic Spaceship.
What: Whoops, it's an alien invasion.
Warnings: Cartoon violence, and an overabundance of Yakety Sax style shenanigans

THE ALIEN HORDES

On the morning of Day 44, things go a bit differently. The carnival opens it's doors and for an hour, things are going just fine...until the aliens attack, that is.

► ALIEN INVASION: The carnival, the athlete's village, and Olympic Spaceship will find themselves overrun by aliens: specifically, a race called the Greimen. The name's accurate: they look like stereotypical grey aliens, only 2-4 feet tall. They're invading the spaceship and the planet, trying to take control of Zargon and Olympic Spaceship for themselves. The main strength these aliens have is their numbers: there's literally thousands of them. Unfortunately for the aliens, they don't have many other strengths. They're easily punchable, kickable, ray guns permanently set to stun, and other amusing space weapons designed to minorly inconvenience people.

► FUCK THIS SHIT I'M OUT: The fighting lasts for a good half-hour or so before the Ringmaster decides no, this is dumb. Characters who aren't at the carnival will feel a compulsion to return to the carnival. Once everyone's there, the Ringmaster will magically eject the remaining aliens from carnival grounds and yank the carnival away from the Olympics themselves.

► OOC GUIDELINES: Despite the fact that this is a fight log, the carnage shouldn't be too excessive! No horribly mutilating the aliens, y'all. The aliens are only mildly better equipped than the Space Olympics themselves, so everything will be a bit comedic and light-hearted. Characters can get hurt, but the wounds should tend more towards 'amusing injuries' than 'someone losing a leg'. As the log's forward-dated, feel free to keep doing all your fun space olympics nonsense in the other logs!

"It doesn't do anything!" Cole complains, giving Rita a frown. "Everything else moves, so I thought everything else was all there is."

Which doesn't really explain much. How did he not notice it, he didn't have to move the creepy squid tentacles so he didn't pay any mind to it. Good job, Cole. Still, she says she can help so Cole's instantly grateful that Rita can and will help.

"Thank you," he murmurs. He's staying still, though. Cole's got no idea how to make these things work, that's all for Rita to take care of and for Rita to boss him around.
anti_nonsense: (Here's the deal.)

[personal profile] anti_nonsense 2018-04-30 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
With a heavy sigh, Rita kneels down and sets to work. Fortunately, she still has a tool belt on her from the workshop, equipped with a few high-tech space tools to make the job easier. There's some tinkering, clanging, and sparking, but when all is said and done, she's successfully attached a wedge with a flipper to Cole's base and connected it to some of the wires seemingly used for bodily control.

"... There. Give it a try. Can you move it?"

Congrats, Cole, you now have the lifting capability of a miniature snow plow.
hurtcomfort: (oh my godddd hurry up)

[personal profile] hurtcomfort 2018-05-01 01:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Cole lifts the plow...then sets it down again...then lifts it again...then sets it down again. There's no way to tell because of the whole Daleks don't have faces thing, but when Cole speaks, he's absolutely ecstatic.

"I can! Thank you, Rita!" And he continues to just lift up and set down the snowplow. "What did you need again?"

Because he can lift things, he can straight up help Rita now.
anti_nonsense: (that's why I'm a genius and you're not)

[personal profile] anti_nonsense 2018-05-01 04:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Well... she did do pretty good for what she had to work with, didn't she? Only a genius like Rita could improvise so effectively while working with alien technology. She can probably take some pride in this achievement.

But they're not quite finished yet. At least seeing her success gives her more patience to continue.

"A robot with hands," she reminds him, "or some other grabbing mechanism. Whatever you want, really."
hurtcomfort: (listening to things)

[personal profile] hurtcomfort 2018-05-02 01:18 pm (UTC)(link)
And Cole nods. "I'll find something small enough." Because again, it's not like he's got the world's biggest snowplow here.

So Cole whirrs off, leaving Rita and the rest of the robotics team behind as he starts scouring the carnage for something with arms.
anti_nonsense: (Here's the deal.)

[personal profile] anti_nonsense 2018-05-03 08:59 am (UTC)(link)
While Cole's gone, Rita returns her attention to the fight, which seems to have been going pretty well while she was distracted.

By the time Cole returns, the alien attackers will have been driven away from this part of the sector, and several of the mechanics have either pursued them or left. Rita remains, not too far from where she was before, sitting on the floor with her robot. A panel on the small machine is open, and she seems to be in the middle of performing repairs on it.
hurtcomfort: (how many sad icons can I have)

[personal profile] hurtcomfort 2018-05-05 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
When Cole returns, there's a tiny, smushed robot in his snowplow. It's got workable hands but the entire front part is caved in like it was hit by a giant rock. With a thump, Cole dumps the smushed robot onto the floor in front of Rita.

"This one was the only one with two arms." He has no idea of this will work or not but hey, here it is.
anti_nonsense: (Too bad.)

[personal profile] anti_nonsense 2018-05-07 03:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Rita turns, gives the robot an appraising look, reaches out and tries bending a few of its digits, then nods. "...This'll do."

She drags it over closer and swiftly removes several screws, allowing her to pull the hands free from the rest of the robot's body. Rising to her feet, she turns attention to Cole's stump-like appendages. "Just hold still and I'll have this done in a few minutes."

Not that it seems like she needs to tell him to hold still.
hurtcomfort: (huh what?)

[personal profile] hurtcomfort 2018-05-08 02:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Cole's eyestalk bobs up and down in an approximation of a nod. And then, he holds still! Cole remains still for as long as Rita needs him to be, as the whisk and plunger looking parts of his 'arms' are replaced with actual hands. He's also quiet, letting her work without distraction.

It's when the hands are fully attached that Cole speaks. "Are you done?"

This is good. Granted, he still can't bend over, but at least he can open doors now.
anti_nonsense: (wait lemme see that)

[personal profile] anti_nonsense 2018-05-09 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
There's some whirring and clanging and a fwoosh from the various tools Rita rapidly swaps in and out of her hands as she works, but before long, Cole is fitted with those hands as neatly as if they'd always been a part of that robotic exterior.

"Yeah, that should do it. Try moving them." Rita's confident they'll work fine, though. She seems to have figured out how the movable parts of the shell connect to the... thing inside it.

"This should give you more versatility, but... I'd be careful if you're planning on hanging around here much longer," she goes on to advise him. "This sector's quieted down, but it sounds like things are still escalating in other parts of the station." It wouldn't take much to get caught up in more of the fighting.
hurtcomfort: (get yourself some expressions my man)

[personal profile] hurtcomfort 2018-05-10 01:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Cole moves them—oh, they're moving! He lets out a small noise of surprise then continues to move his hands, opening and closing the 'fingers' just because he can. Well this is amazing. His opinion of Rita was already pretty great, but now it's just getting better.

At her words of advice, he nods. "I need to be around to steal more things," Cole explains. Now, with all the chaos, it's a good time to just straight up steal stuff from the Space Olympics. "This will help. Thank you."
anti_nonsense: (Deal with it. B|)

[personal profile] anti_nonsense 2018-05-10 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"Right..." Rita murmurs, mild disapproval in her tone. Stealing. Of course.

"Well, whatever. Do what you want. But if things get hairy, come back right away. Wouldn't want you to become part of the scrap heap they've got started here." She nods to the broken robot bits strewn about the floor.
hurtcomfort: (okay let's try MURDER)

[personal profile] hurtcomfort 2018-05-11 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
Cole's eyestalk bobs up and down in a nodding fashion. "They can see me, but I know how to be quiet. I won't be hurt."

He starts to roll away but pauses and turns back to Rita.

"You should be safe also." She's still Rita! He still cares about her and doesn't want her to get hurt!
